So my dad told me that he might help buy a new car once I get my probationary licence if I can pay at least half of it and he'll even help me pay for insurance. I hadn't thought about posting anything here but when I saw a similar post on LTT. So I thought about these cars as my top 5 choices, what do you guys think?

I know there are big differences with these cars. My top choice was the pontiac, although I'm not so sure about it since it has 4 cylinders and a lot of people say that a 4 cylinders car isn't very powerful. But my biggest concern is the snow, which made me prefere an AWD or a FWD. Well I don't know. What do you guys think?

Hmm... are you paying for gas or is your dad? How much power do you need?

If you pay for your gas and can live with a 4-cylinder (which is a good idea for a first car anyways), then get something like this. Also your split of the insurance with your dad will also be a lot cheaper with something like this vs a coupe or convertible. Good price, rock solid reliability easy and cheap to fix, plenty of room and comfort, and amazing gas mileage. http://wwwb.autotrader.ca/a/Toyota/Camry/St-Eustache/Quebec/5_22444400_20061103053357632/?ursrc=hl&showcpo=ShowCPO&orup=1_15_2

He put it in Off Topic forum so it is the right forum for it.

This is a tech forum. Not a car forum. He would have better luck posting this on a car forum then here.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Out of those 5, i would only recommend the Infinit and the 350Z. Everything else is shit, and plus, IIRC, convertibles have higher insurance rates.

Wrong forum for this m8

He put it in Off Topic forum so it is the right forum for it.

Well in a car forum would be a better place, and off-topic isn't a forum, it's a section of the Linus Tech Tips forum.

These threads of teens and their first car make me shake my head.

At least I picked my first car on my own.

Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?

You've got to be kidding me. I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It's just common sense.

Considering the car thread is verging on a 1,000 replies i'd say the love of cars is fairly strong. Also asking about a first car is common sense relatively safe, good MPG, low insurance and low initial cost.

That doesn't mean that we're of zero help whatsoever.

Heck, there's a car thread here.

This isn't really a car forum, but I'm a car guy.

I would stay away from the Jag and the infinity. If you have a breakdown, parts will cost you a lot no doubt. The Nissan is also a pain in the butt to work on. They are put together like a puzzle. so if something goes wrong, expect to pay for a lot of labor.

I don't know how much snow you get in Montreal, but I know that if you can't find some sort of 4WD vehicle, Fwd is what you want.

If you are getting your first car, A 4 banger is probably your best bet. You don't need tons of power, especially as a new driver in the winter. However, that does not mean that 4 cylinder cars are gutless and slow.

I would look at a Subaru WRX or something if I was you. They can keep up with muscle cars and you can drive them in the winter better b/c AWD. Not to mention you have great power and reliability.

I didn't say that did I?

Then why are you saying this should be posted somewhere else in the first place? If OP has the sense to pick a car for his needs then he'd likely have the sense to post in multiple forums including car-based ones, since he's already a member here why not?

I didn't say that this forum would be no help.

I suggested that he could be better helped by a car forum.

Jag, I agree, but Infinitis have Nissan engines, and they are relatively easy to work with. I honestly think the Japanese have better convenience than Americans.

Honestly in terms of engine works the EJ engines are also a bit tricky to work on, especially if you're not largely familiar with them. In terms of just general workability I'd take the Nissan VQ engines over the Subarus. However this is not to say that the VQs aren't more technologically advanced and could go wrong in more ways then the Subie.

Also, the turbo 4 in the WRX doesn't do any much justice when it comes to overkill power compared to a V6 anyways.

We're cluttering up the thread with crap like this? Look at the first reply, which was actually useful info, then look at the second one, yours. If you don't know much about cars at least pick one out of the five that looks interesting to you.

This is ridiculous. This is a first vehicle, not a sports car. Stop looking at Chargers, and Jags, and 350zs.

Ignoring the fact that you most likely won't be able to handle the horsepower initially, I am also going to assume that you are a young male. When an insurance company looks at a teenaged boy driving a new, automatic, sports car, they are going to charge you out the ass. You also need to consider gas. These aren't going to have great fuel economy, nor are they going to be taking shitty gas. If you want to preserve them and make them run nice, you're probably going to need a higher grade gas.

Be realistic, stop looking a god damned sports cars, and look at look at something realistic and worth it.

Also, before you purchase any used vehicle, get it inspected by a mechanic. A 2006 Jag, convertible with under 100k, km, seems quite fishy.

Just please be realistic and get a fucking Civic like a normal kid.
