Jag, I agree, but Infinitis have Nissan engines, and they are relatively easy to work with. I honestly think the Japanese have better convenience than Americans.

Yes but you have to consider that because of the badge on the hood, Insurance is more expensive and parts can be more expensive

This is ridiculous. This is a first vehicle, not a sports car. Stop looking at Chargers, and Jags, and 350zs.

Ignoring the fact that you most likely won't be able to handle the horsepower initially, I am also going to assume that you are a young male. When an insurance company looks at a teenaged boy driving a new, automatic, sports car, they are going to charge you out the ass. You also need to consider gas. These aren't going to have great fuel economy, nor are they going to be taking shitty gas. If you want to preserve them and make them run nice, you're probably going to need a higher grade gas.

Be realistic, stop looking a god damned sports cars, and look at look at something realistic and worth it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Even my V6 minivan is more power then I need. I'm one of the few kids around here that actually come to reasonable sense when it comes to a first car. I chose a first gen Prius, not the best in terms of stereotypes, but in the summer it took not even five liters per 100km. I suggested a really good priced Camry Hybrid in the first reply to the thread, which would cost next to nothing in terms of insurance costs for a teenage boy and gas to fill up compared to a shiny 2 door sports coupe. Also a lot easier and cheaper to fix, it's a Camry.

Duh, it's a Jag. Nissans have been known as cheap and reliable, so insurance isn't too expensive on them.

I also just noticed you're in Montreal. You don't want to be driving a sports car in winter there. Also like mentioned above, these fancy cars you're looking at, will cost you a bitch to get repaired when they break.

Get something reliable, safe, cheap, and good in the winter.

These cars are going to cost you an arm and a leg in gas, and even more in insurance.

I'd get the Nissan and mod it later on

Edit: I'd get a Honda tbh. A civic wouldn't hurt you. And pretty of aftermarket parts  for future upgrades, and doesn't consume much gas

Honestly in terms of engine works the EJ engines are also a bit tricky to work on, especially if you're not largely familiar with them. In terms of just general workability I'd take the Nissan VQ engines over the Subarus. However this is not to say that the VQs aren't more technologically advanced and could go wrong in more ways then the Subie.

Also, the turbo 4 in the WRX doesn't do any much justice when it comes to overkill power compared to a V6 anyways.

I don't know if the OP is looking to work on his car or not. Sure the EJ engines are strange at a glance, but they are well engineered. I can't vouch for the Nissan engines, but yesterday a guy stalled in his maxima by my house. I tried to help but I couldn't find a vacuum leak without taking the cover off of the engine.

Wait, the plastic part or the actual valve cover? if plastic, that's not a big deal. If the valve cover, maybe, but look outside for any broken hoses.

I had an 05 Maxima before my current daily driver now, the engine was a breeze to work on. Can't say the same for stuff on the interior though, but then again it was more marketed as a "luxury" car that you take interior-related issues to the dealer to have them work on.

Yeah it's all hidden under the plastic cover on the VQ35, to make the engine bay look "clean"

Yeah, then it's fine. The plastic cover comes right off, no tools. Not a big deal. I know from my corolla has one, and it was easy peasy to take it off.

Buddy, I'm rocking a fucking 1990 Honda Accord -manual-. The thing is a piece of shit. It's a little I4, like 120HP, 2.2L, and I'm almost not proud to say, that puppy has hit 160 (extremely stupid, and unsafe I know). I'm also running really old all seasons, and not once have I gotten stuck, ever, nor have I slid unintentionally (and you know Calgary roads).

Gas is cheap, and my insurance is cheap too.

The thing has plenty of power, and I have no issues with it. This whole fad of your new car has to be some V6/V8 200hp sports car has to stop.

Either that, or these kids need to start paying their own insurance and gas.

Keep in mind this was a complete stranger that I tried to help when they stalled. I am not going to dismantle their engine in the middle of the street when the tow truck was on the way.

I just think it is a little easier to work on an engine that is in complete sight.

Hey, all you needed was to plop off the plastic engine cover, and shabam, its all underneath that cover.

I can't really say much about Nisssans. I have never worked on one. The closest thing that I have to experience with them is my uncle complaining that you can't change the headlights without taking some stuff apart.

Also, I work on agricultural equipment for a living. The only work I do with cars is DIY.

Completely agree with what @Statik said above, be realistic - insurance, fuel and servicing cost you more than the car does in the long run. Read these two threads on MCM. Other things to keep in mind if you're really into cars is license restrictions - here in Victoria Aus, performance mods aren't allowed til you're on your full license.

I think the 94 Accord is an especially good one, since that was the first year for VTEC. My dad had the EX-L edition with leather, CD, the stuff.

Depends on the state. NSW doesn't allow those on P's to go above 90Km/h. Victoria doesn't allow Red P's (first 12 months) to carry more than 1 person between 16-24, no alcohol, no performance mods, no huge powerful cars: weight to performance resriction knocks out things like V6's/V8's with turbo's. Green P's still means no alcohol or mods but you're then allowed more people in the car. No speed restrictions for P platers in Vic though.

Damn, that's strict. In America, nationwide, its just too many violations, no license for a whlie. Nothing about mods related to licenses.

Thanks I actually really like the look of the camry and this color. I wad always afraid to even think about hybrids cause I don't even know how it works (gas and electricity at the same time?) i actually never thought much of insurance but you guys are right. Maybe a hybrid like the camry is great. Besides my sister even told me it will be stupid for me to get a sports car since I won't even use it's potential. Thanks for your honesty people (everypne not just the person I quoted). I honestly know pretty much nothing about cars and the only reason I thought about one of these cars is becaise I love the sports look.
