Gaming pc for 4k

aamirilliyas123
Go to solution Solved by Sauron,

Let's not waste your money for no reason shall we? ;) If as you say it's just for gaming, then:

-the 4790k is a waste of money, get a 4690k instead.

-the ssd you picked was too expensive for what you need and honestly the performance difference isn't worth that much more, fixed that.

-The 980 is one of the most overpriced gpus on the market, got rid of those. You can go with a 295x2 as I suggested and get pretty much the same performance, or go sli 970s if you prefer. Both solutions make a LOT more sense for the money.

-There's no reason to get a 300$ motherboard unless you are going to overclock with LN2, and you only want to game. Fixed that with a motherboard that will do everything you need at one third of the price.

-You really, really don't need a sound card. At all. If you want better audio, get better heaphones. If you already have great hedphones, get an external dac.

-For gaming you don't need anything more than 8gb of 1600mhz ram, you most certainly don't need 32gb or 2400mhz.

-NOBODY needs custom watercooling, it's not done for usefulness or efficiency (it provides neither of the two), it's done out of passion. Only do it if you really want it.

So guys this is my gaming pc which I am going to use for playing only games.

Are there any incompatibilities or suggestions?

And there is going to be a build log too.

And do I need custom watercooling?

Custom water cooling is unnecessary. The parts are all compatible but the system is much more expensive than it has to or should be.

No point in getting 32GB ram for gaming. 8GB is already plenty and 16GB would cover the 12GB sweet spot that we're slowly moving towards.

The psu is overkill even for sli. A decent 750w is already plenty.

Is cost not an issue?

..is a bluray drive really necessary?

Do you really need the sound card? Well, nm... if you're dropping $4k on a gaming rig might as well get a sound card... Same thing with the 32GB of memory... for just gaming you don't need it but if you have the $$$ why not???

$4k for 4k!!!

Looks solid to me, i'm jealous!

No! It's not good. Let me make you one.

You dont need a custom water cooling kit unless you want to do hardcore overclocking and want your system to look beautiful (Insert personal preference here).

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9h79XL

You dont need 2 16 GB RAM kits for gaming. Don't even consider it overkill,it's a shit decision.2 980s for a single 1440p monitor.Performance jump is too low.Consider getting a 4K monitor.

860 watts because I might upgrade.

I need a bluray drive for downloading games.

32gb just to be on the safe side.

Upgrade to what? 3-way 980 sli?

32GB is overkill. More ram than needed is useless. 16GB is already more than enough to be 'safe'.

Do you mean you need a bluray drive for installing games? L2STEAMBRO

Oh OK lots of things here.

The i7 is unnecessary. It's OK if you want it, but know that anything more than a 4690k is overkill.

You have two 16GB RAM kits. Even if you wanted 32GB it's better to get a single 32GB kit since they'd be matched. You don't need more than 8, though, so if you're gaming this is massive overkill.

Get two 970s instead of two 980s. They perform near identically and cost about half as much. Seriously 970s or 290Xs are the 4K choice that makes sense right now.

That sound card is unnecessary, your motherboard has decent onboard.

Your case comes with 140mm versions of those fans. LED versions, in fact. The only difference between the Performance and the Quiet editions are their RPM. Use the fan headers on your motherboard and ASUS's extremely good BIOS tools to get the same effect for free.

32 GB is a downside, not a safe side. Consider the system I suggested
