Malware Bytes Anti Malware Giveaway! (Part 2)

MeltyMoon

Being I logged in today, and saw a whopping 18 notifications of people quoting/liking my post, I've decided to do another MBAM giveaway! Same means of entry as last time, you can write about what got you into PC gaming, editing, etc, etc. Or you can tell us a story about any viruses you've had, or run into on someone else's machine! (I'm leaning more towards these but not posting one like this won't effect your winning chance being winners will be chosen at random!)

Okay, so the more entries i get, the more keys i give away!

<10 (1 key, god I hope i don't get a meager 4 entries again  )

11-20 (2 keys)

21-30 (3 keys)

31- 40 (4 keys)

50+ (6 keys!)

Alright, so the giveaway runs from today (Wednesday) to the last day in June! Incase any of you were wondering why/how i have a good 80 keys, someone gave me a 100 key pack as a present, why? I don't even know why lol. Anyways get posting! ;) I'll bump occasionally if this thread starts to fall off the first page. Make sure you let people know too!

Completely off topic, but being I love publicity, you guys want some free backgrounds I made? Check out the links here :P

Well every few months I have to go to my uncle's house and do what he thinks is a virus scan for him but actually I just re-install Windows with Chrome and he's no the wiser. I do this because of the sheer amount of shit he downloads.

80 keys...whaaaaa?? Well I guess I came into PC gaming and computer knowledge in general about 8 months ago. This was around the time when I was sick of COD of the PS3 and had nothing else to do. I've always been around technology since I was a kid. I've been introduced to gaming when I was a really young (around the age of 5 I saw my cousin playing games on the computer and wanted to play too). Well my family isn't that wealthy but we have enough and computers were always so expensive so I would always get me hand me downs from my uncle who works for a computer company and took the old computers they were going to throw away. So I would have a couple of hand me downs that were not that great and slow....REALLY slow.

So fast forward to 2011 I got my first real computer (laptop). Parents got it for me for school but I picked out exactly what I wanted but it wasn't that great now that I think about it. This is also the time when I couldn't stand CoD anymore and decided to get some games on steam instead and D3. Played a lot of D3 before I eventually got bored of that also. I was limited to what games I could play because of the laptop not having a dedicated GPU so the FPS was really shitty. Now a year later and then some in October of 2012 my parents asked what I wanted for Christmas and I said I wanted to build my own computer. So for about of month I spent searching the interwebz about computers, how to build them, what I need to do with it, watching Logan (awesome) and Linus (found Linus from Logan) on how to build a PC. At first the build consisted of a budget PC that I used Logan as a guide but then wanted something a bit better and saved up more money (been saving money for a good couple of years by now). When getting the parts I was as giddy as a school girl (being serious) and spent the whole night building it....literally the whole night and actually had a working rig and turned on the very first time I pressed the power button.

Just gunna throw out my favorite post from the previous giveaway, perfect example (it doesn't have to be as long, but I would appreciate more than one sentence :P)

"I loved technology ever since I was a kid. I remember, vaguely, myself playing with watches, which escalated into collecting old cell phones that people threw away. I remember exploring all the different GUIs, and just having a blast with them. This eventually escalated into my love for Flash Drives. I remember holding my first Super Talent USB 3.0 Express drive (When it first came out). From there, my parents asked me if I could help them get a new computer for the family, and I ended up going head first into it. As I was doing research, I stumbled onto Linus' channel, and then it happened; my passion for computers was born. When I first got my brand new system, I remember playing CoD MW2 (can you believe CoD was my first PC game ever?) and I eventually got into the Programming Spectrum. and am currently diving back into Hardware and working on building a new comp this summer. That's it, that is my story.

I remember my sister putting a virus on my parents' computer, and I had to remove it by doing a System Restore (because it was one of those rouge anti-virus applications that take over the Win32 -- kernel of the operating system -- that disabled anything from being opened!).

Anyway, hope my response met the parameters! Hope I win the keys!

Gosh, till this date, i had more problems with anti-spywayre/malware/virus than with actuall viruses...

I rather stick community-rated free ones that dont interfere.

When i was a kid almost every month my sister would magically cause us to get a virus and this was the most fun (as a kid) virus i think i ever experienced. It made all the icons run away from the cursor and me and my cousin would sit there for hours trying to click on them and it took us days to finally get one. it was fun but it would be annoying now.

Recently we had a virus that made our firewall turn everything down so that we couldn't use anything, not even chrome. And so we asked my sisters BF to fix it because he said that he had a extra copy. well turns out he didnt and so he got a torrent of it and that torrent wasnt windows, it was a virus. and so it messed up our computers so I had to fix it, and get a real copy and do a full bios flash on the PC and my parents STILL ask him for PC help before they ask me.

Thanks btw i need a anti malware because i dont have one right now. :D

What got me into PC gaming?  I don't really remember.  What I do recall is what started it all:  Going to the public library as a kid to use the Apple IIc's they had!  Ah, the good ol' days of text based games like the original Ultima!  Eventually moved "up" to my very own Commodore 64 complete with tape drive for storage, playing Pitfall and Sid Meier's Pirates!.  Those games used to be my favorites...

Why did I get into PC gaming?  Because I built a gaming PC.  I figured it's a waste if I don't. :P And Steam deals are amazing for a poor college kid like me.

My dad bought a desktop computer for work when I was 8. It had 8 bit color (256 colors). I was begging for an n64 at the time but instead he bought me mechwarrior 2  and a joystick.

That introduced me to PC games. Then my mom/pops got divorced and it was a couple of years before I again had access to a PC that could run games. My friend/neighbors older brother brought Quake over to my house on about 17 floppy disks and installed it for me. He then showed me how to log into a server via IP address and wrote down the server he and his friends played on. We had a cable connection (I have no idea the speeds) and it was unbelievably cool to know that you were playing against other real life people.

Since then I've always had a computer capable of playing games (even if it was terrible frame rates at low settings) and it has been my main gaming platform.

I got into computers when i decided it was time to change our old hp desktop computer. So I built one without a graphics card as I figured I would game on my xbox 360. However, i don't know what actually compelled me to stop gaming on the xbox ( maybe the terrible graphics drove me away.) So then I bought a pretty decent gpu and started gaming, and the rest is history.  :)

It all started with a Windows 95 machine. One of my favorite games was Commader Keen. We never had consoles in our home so I always played with computers.

Friend of mine had the ''police child porn" virus which locks you out of everything and you cant do anything on that pc unless you pay them 100$ or something crazy like that, without contacting me he payed the ''fine'' and found out that nothing had changed. NO WAY! i told him when he finnaly called me and i quickly came over and ran malwarebytes and a few other programmes and it fixed it. I'm now a PC god to him.

I got into PC gaming when I played BF3 on PS3 and I wanted to play BF3 on PC because I had heard many great things about BF3 on PC (bigger maps, more players etc.). Then I found Linus on Youtube and began watching his videos, learnt a lot about PC components and the next summer I was playing BF3 on my new PC :D

I got into pc gaming when I lost use of my right arm in a bad motorcycle accident.. I realized it was pretty tough to use a console controller with only a left arm. But I found a combat flight sim only and bought a joystick and a decent pc. Well after 10 years of playing only that game I found this program called joy2key and I mapped my joystick so I could play FPS games. Now my favorite game is BF3 and I have over a 1.1 kd and all with a joystick.

I just built my first gaming pc and it was definitely a learning experience especially building with 1 arm but in the end it turned out amazing and was quite the learning experience..

I remember when I was like 10 my cousin, who was like 14 or 15, was showing me something on his computer. As soon as he opened IE like 5 porn popups opened. "Oh, what's that, damn internet and it's popups" He said (or something along those lines). Pfffft, I was old enough to know what was going on.

Not really a virus, but that's all I've got..

What got me into PC gaming? When i realised that consoles had hardware that was inferior to the latest generation of hardware PC's could have.

What got me into PC editing? Watching a whole lot of youtube videos and wanting to try making my own.

I do have a virus story back when i was much younger and less experienced with computers. Back then i was a curious kid, exploring the net and didn't have too much knowlege of what sites were dodgy or whatnot. But anyways one day i downloaded something thinking it was a game and of course turned out to be a trojan of sorts. I noticed the computer was instantly slower once i ran it, my antivirus said some virus was detected and couldn't remove it. (Was using norton internet security 2007 or something back then)

Anyways, i tried getting norton to remove it, but it failed. So i spent the rest of the evening till around 12am at night trying to rid this trojan off my computer. I was panicing since this was a shared desktop and i'd get in big trouble if something screwed up with it. I tried all sorts of antivirus/antimalware programs ranging from Super Antispyware, norton, mcaffee and a few others. UNTIL i came accross Malwarebytes and ran that after i had exhausted all my other options and to my surprise and great relief it detected and remove the horrid trojan for good.

Since then, it has been my favourite program of choice for removing stubborn trojans/viruses that others can't, i wouldn't have a computer without it. :)

Hmm, I "started" PC gaming I think from the first moment I can remember, playing Age of Empires II in one of those unicolor Compaq computers, bakc in the day that game was the only reason I even came close to a computer, I was really young back then so it was cheat play for me, but even with that I passed really good and the history lessons I took from that game, I didn't even when who the celtic where but I knew who they fighted against and what the names of their generals were. Short time after I got the game my family changed houses and I got an Acer laptop that to this day continues in my apartment (I hated it for being uncapable of running everything except for Age of Empires II (which may be my fault now that I think of it, really took it serious like three years after I got it)) and so I continued playing Age of Empires II: The Conquerors, and since then the Battle of Hastings holds a special place in my gaming history.

As the years continued I started using the laptop for other things and eventually four years ago I managed to get a new laptop, a VAIO that is now in hands of my dad and I also hated because IT COULDN'T PLAY THE $%!# OUT OF AGE OF EMPIRES III (Sorry for the caps) the main reason for which I bought it, of course at the time I didn't knew that the problem was the lack of a proper graphics solution, oh well, after that I got/bought a PS3 in which all my gaming was done, that is, until February/March 2012.

I was reading this gaming magazine "GameMaster"  on its February or March edition and I saw this article on Gaming PCs (The magazine is mainly console based but they also review PC games and talk about the PC every now and then) that really interested me, that also made me want to rediscover Starcraft II (RTS Fan here), I was able to play the game on my laptop but they looked like cartoons so then I decided to make my own PC. Then came the sites like Tom's, after that Newegg and Linus, after that finding hardware stores in my country that sold current gen parts, convincing my dad that assembling a PC was a good option and that slamming an i7 onto a PC didn't make it better (he thought GPU's were irrelevant).

Now, now I enjoy the Steam sales, discovered some awesome indies, made it to Gold in SC2, wait to but Age of Empires II, and found this awesome community :)

First game I played was Starcraft and with it its expansion Broodwar.

I was like Grade 4 in elementary and IIRC I was like 8 years old? or 10? haha. My father was an accountant in a company that sells feeds(food for pigs, poultry, etc.) and in his office was a computer. It is using Win 95 or 98? hahaha. I always visit him on weekends or after school even if its allowed or not in his office haha. Then I saw someone, company branch's manager's son which is a friend of mine, btw the manager knows me too and my father and we were church mates, playing starcraft and a scary shooter game. and I watched him build a command center...yeah terran duh! it was the single player. what is that called... (googles) CAMPAIGN! first stage i think, where you start in the bottom left of a snowy map. those fire guys i liked em! Wanna turn up the heat! haha, i said it mimicing its voice the firebat!

then i saw the siege tank! goliath! and there it goes I tried to play it days after I saw it in my father's office. i went there to play even if his boss, the owner, is there. the owner doesn't give a shiyet! hahaaha, the hell i cant finish that first stage of the campaign. i cant even get enough minerals to defend my base for 20 mins or 15. lol. it was my first game. then i learned counter strike, battlerealms, warcraft 3, gta vice city , Red ALert 2 my favorite!, Rose online! ragnarok! so many LOL.

my childhood was awesome!

Now I have a rig a year ago that was given to me!
