Can't Decide which graphic card to get

Forcecore

Using 1080p playing games more towards MMORPG type of games like Rift and waiting for upcoming games like TESO.. (Will upgrade to 1440p in 1-2mths time)

Currently can't decide to go for AMD or Nvidia both having a tight fight current budget is maximum of USD600 of course if can save up more i wouldn't mind=D

1) GTX 770

2) AMD 7970 (AMD bundle seems to be damn attractive)

Saw the comparison for both GTX 770 and 7970 both seems to be having a very close fight..

Which brand to go for?

AMD: Sapphire or MSI

Nvidia GTX 770 i tink Gigabyte is more 1 of the best choice good cooler and more worth it?

You said you could save up, I would do that and get a 7990, or if you couldn't wait get the 7970 and then get another in the future as that will be a single 7990

Heya,

I personally think at this moment in time, the gtx 770 would be the best choice of the two, to go for. As far as I am aware, there are no up coming AMD GPUs out soon and the new 700 series is just creaming the AMD cards atm. the gtx 770 comes with the 2GB vRAM which should be enough for the 1440p monitors.

The Asus gtx 770 would be great, due to its triple slot cooler.

Hope this helps,

Elven

Just upgrading my old graphic card spoilt and out of warranty, however for CPU currently i am using 3570k. Hmm i mean saving more money hahah not saving up to higher end graphic cards. I think 7990 price is abit out of my league

Im ordering two 770s to put in sli so I know what they can do.

Personaly if I was going with a single gpu I would chose nvidia just because the physx and I can sell my xbox and 45 games for pc games

But if I was hard pressed I would chose the 7970 there is a slight performance boost with the 770 but without games what good is performance

If you can save, get 780 or wait for new AMD, otherwise 770. for reasons stated above.

The Asus 770 is dual slot not triple and the 7970 is riding on its back seat it may not be on its ass but with the free games it doesnt matter

I just getting single GPU not thinking of crossfire/SLi anytime soon, 780 definitely looks good but if comes to OC i check it seems that AMD has better OC than Nvidia? I been using Nvidia for most of my cards 260 and 460 but both has broke down, so for AMD will be a new experience for me and thus i only can research about it

What about the whole "future games will be optimized for AMD" thing. Should that not play into the decision as well. And is the 770 that much better than a 7970GHz for most games? The GHz edition is only £11 more than a 770 plus you get three games with it so to some people its £80 less than a 770.

As far as I can tell the 770 is a bit of a disappointment from nvidia. it performs great, but is neck and neck with the Ghz refresh of the 7970 which is a much older card. I would save up for the 780 as it is nvidia's brand new GK110 architecture that is showing great performance and will only get better. The 770 is just the maxed out version of the old GK104 architecture that the 600 series cards used.

Console ports might be optimized for AMD, but the pc gaming world will likely stay as it is (contended) for quite a while.

If you can save up 50$, go with the GTX 780 as it is pretty much a Titan for 650$, watch Linus' videos about it and see for yourself why it is better than say an HD 7970.
