Is this a good PSU brand/unit

Xyb3rNinja

My current power supply has started to fail so I'm looking for a new PSU and came across an FSP Aurum 600W unit for a very good price (I'm not from around the US).

The last video Linus has uploaded about a FSP power supply was like 3 years ago but it did got some pretty big bananas from him. So should I be ok if I go with this PSU? It has Gold plus efficiency rating and also comes with a whopping 5 years warranty.

FSP? why not just go with a more mainstream brand like corsair, evga, coolermaster?

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

FSP is like Seasonic , except not as good. :P  FSP makes good powersupplies but are often rebranded and sold by others.

So yeah, as long as you feel its fine.

This isn't the exact PSU you're looking at, but this guy's opinion of the FSP brand seems favourable if anything.

Plus the 5 year warranty would imply that they're standing behind the reliability of that PSU (although I suspect the warranty doesn't cover other components that may fail simultaneously with the PSU).

Use Corsair or EVGA, mate.

Then again, if Linus recommended it in one of his vids, it might be OK. Bear in mind the vid was 3 years ago, and many, many better ones have come since.

It's an OEM... It makes PSUs for Acer, some for Evga, CM, Antec, silverstone... But of course (and obviusly) they sell their PSUs too :P

The aurum series is very good

Thank you for telling me :)

This belongs in the Power Supplies section. I'm moving the thread.

Please post in the correct sub-forum in the future.

I've never heard of this brand honestly so I say no :P

FSP makes psus for Corsair, EVGA, CoolerMaster, along with many other brands. FSP is about as mainstream of an oem as it gets.

The Aurum Gold 600 is good.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought the PSU and it's working great. The fan noise is also very minimal.

Yeah, why not? but you didn't mention your specs... It'd be enough in all single gpu system and some dual GPU

My specs are

CPU: i3

GPU: 280

RAM: 4 GB DDR3 1600

PSU: Cooler Master B series 500W

I would really like to get 8 GB RAM and i know its must for Modern Gaming!..

But if i get 8 GB of RAM i wont be able to get 280 :) and that would suck!.. R9 280 is great GPU :)

B series aren't 80+ certified PSUs (except version 2 (80+EU))

IDK how it is, I only saw one review (where it showed 75 % efficiency (50% Load), should be enough tho).

It shouldn't be a problem, just plug it and check voltages and how hot it gets :)

How to see how mich MY psu gets hot?
