Fractal XL R2 build

HTiLewis

Hey guys,

New to the forum, but I thought I would post a little build log to show off what I've been able to do since being introduced to this site and to Linus and Slick.

For some context, I'm going to post what my previous build looked like. Most of the components are the same except for the case and fans. This is a work in progress, but I hope you guys enjoy it and might have some suggestions for me. I don't have a name for it yet...and please excuse the pictures, they're from a combination of S3 and HTC one cameras.

Here's the hardware:

 i7-3820

Asetek 510LC Liquid Cooling System 120MM

120GB Kingston SSDNOW V200+ SATA III 6.0Gb/s SSD - 535MB/s Read & 480MB/s Write

500GB Barracuda

ASUS P9X79 Intel X79

16GB Kingston HyperX 1333 (I believe)

1,000 Watts PSU (Unsure of the name, probably the next thing to be changed out)

Case fans are from the cases, having 8 SP120s shipped to me right now.

The original case was a IN-Win dragon rider and I put a window in it; now I'm using a Fractal XL R2 and also put a window into it as well.

I think it looks much tidier, although there are things that still need to be done. Still need to redo my light cables (made them from scratch) and put the fans that are coming in. I'll probably do those at the same time.

Thanks for watching!

Best,

Alright, I was too impatient and added my led light strips into the machine. It looks much better in person thanks to my outstanding camera.

Do like the way the light shows up, not to strong but shows the right level of detail, nice work

Thanks for the advice, but I was already thinking Bout that. I've wanted to get a modular psu with around 800w for awhile, just haven't had the money. Same with the ram.

Hopefully soon though, I think a modular psu would clean it up just a little bit more.

Just a little update. Got my 8 SP120 fans in and they are movin way more air than the other set up I had. They are quite a bit louder, but I can always undervolt them in the future if it bugs me too much.
