Would I be able to run a gtx 770 with a 500 watt psu? The psu im using is a rosewill silent night 500w and the card is the MSI Geforce GTX 770 Video Card gaming edition. Also, i will be using a intel i7 4770k with a Samsung 840 pro ssd.

Yes but if I were you I would get a bigger power supply for if you want to upgrade.

If you can afford a GTX770, I'm sure you can go for a 750 watt PSU.

My build: 600t Graphite Grey | ASUS P8Z77-V LGA | i5-3570K (H100i cooled) | 2 x GTX 560 2GB

256 SSD for OS

3x1TB in RAID 5 with 60 SSD cache

As long as you don't overclock too much that should be good enough. I would say throw in $30 and get a 650-750w PSU

OS - Windows 8.1 Motherboard - ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0 Processor - AMD FX 8350 Black Edition RAM - 16GB 2x8 Crucial Ballistix Sport Graphics Card - Gigabyte Windforce 2 OC GTX 660 Power Supply - Corsair CX750M CPU Cooler - NZXT Kraken X60 Wireless Adapter - ASUS PCE-N15 PCI-E Adapter Fans - x3 Masscool blue LED 120mm Fans Case - Fractal Design Define R4

Monitor - Dell S2230MX 21.5-inch Keyboard - Logitech G105 Mouse - Logitech G602 Speakers - Logitech Z130 Headsets/Headphones - Tt eSports Shock, AKG K240, California Headphones Laredo Phone - iPhone 4S

A 500w would be perfectly fine for a 770, just make sure it's of high quality. Seasonic make good 500wers, I'd pick one of those.

yea thats a problem as the gtx 770 needs 42 volts on the 12 volt rail.

EVGA requirements

GTX700-series requirements are 600w minimum with 42a on 12v rail.

configured using an i7- 3.2GHz processor

even i think this was linus' flacky results in testing as his PSU only has 38a

on 12v rail..

Mr Psu will die if you pair the two together. Get a 600w psu with at least 45amps to be the safe side.

Would the requirements be different with a custom pcb.

500w would be fine, but it would be safe at 600w.

i wouldn't figure so as the same "power" rating is on the chip. usually the PCB could

use more, due to the extra power phase it might carry or extra fan solution. but

prolly not. it looks like from the 700-series to Titan they all take 42a on 12v rail for

single card usage.

You need a better psu bud.. As for running a high end gpu the most important thing is amps on 12volt rail.. I hate when people say ohh 500 will be fine without even asking that question..

My 560ti 2win runs fine of a 500w psu. In theory the card alone should draw 340w but in practice the whole system only draws 460w when maxed out.

not to bust your chops, but these are two totally different power usage cards.

yes, a 560ti can get away with it because it only needs 24amp on a rail and

another 16amps to support SLI. so the 560ti2win is needing as expected.

In short yes it will work but I would be thinking about jumping on board with a new PSU shorty after PSU die a lot faster when you are loading them close to the edge due to heat and overloading the PSU could cause a complete system failure and might kill components with it, in short yes it will work but I would not recommend that you use it for more then a month or two. It would be a shame to kill such nice hardware
