Fast spinning metal fan... Just what I always wanted to have spinning right next to me. That's not dangerous at all if it fails... :|

Cheers,

This has been around for ages. The 'prototype' which was never really showed off much.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. The True Path of the Feathered One. ~ Dimboble-dubabob III

  • 5 weeks later...

I've been looking forward to this, but the implication that they invented it, rather than licensing it from Sandia National Labs pisses me off. Here's a

in June 2012.

I would like to see results of cooler after few months of usage when dust gets in between layers.

Actually, that's one of the strong points of the "Sandia cooler". Because the blades are moving, they collect much less dust than stationary fins. This is basically due to the centrifugal force throwing the dust off.

Consider the amount of dust that accumulates on your fan blades vs. on non-moving parts of your computer. A bit on the leading edges, but nothing on the surfaces.

that thing is going to be loud.

No, it's very quiet.

The fins are backward-pointing, so you can touch your finger against it with no damage. It's like touching the output side of a fan (gently pushes your finger aside) rather than the input (ouch!). There are videos on youtube of people demonstrating it.

one thing is dust on blades, other thing is dust between stationary and moving part...

Yeah I feel like dust would get between the two and throw off the almost touching ness of it
