Is your ipad mini gen 1 still usable

Go to solution Solved by KemoKa,

it would be around 243, i have a nexus 7 2012 and idk i guess its alright but not really my cup of tea. i like android but i wanna try apple to see what they got going for them. I'm just one of those people that has to try it all when it comes to technology.

Fair enough. I would press selling the 2012 and getting a 2013, because the 2013 is orders of magnitude better than either of them imao, but I completely understand wanting to try different platforms. However, with the iPad Mini, the specs just aren't there. They only gave even the iPhone 6 1GB of RAM, which is fine for now, but in the future it's going to sting. Apple just refuses to design things to last...

That's not to say I don't appreciate the iOS platform. I love my iPod Touch, and in my mind the music player interface is superior to anything that Android has.

I would say that if you're set on the Apple, wait a little bit, save up, wait until the after-christmas sales and buy a later-gen ipad like the iPad Mini 2.

hey so my workplace is going to have a decent deal on a 1st gen ipad mini and i will also get discount on top of that, but i was just wondering if it is slow or unusable with the new updates and old technology

I have an iPad 3rd gen and it's fine on iOS 8 but was better on iOS 7.

I had one, it was pretty choppy and felt like it was lacking performance. It uses the Apple A5 processor, which was pretty outdated even at the iPad mini's launch, so its poor performance isn't surprising. I should also note the low PPI screen. The resolution is fine, but the pixel density hurts your eyes if you are used to "retina" displays. The later versions of iOS have held back my devices(iPhone 4s and 5), but I haven't tested it on the iPad mini(got rid of it within 6 months of ownership, thats how I feel about it).

I have an iPad 2 which has similar specs. It's decent, but the GPU definitely isn't powerful enough for iOS 8. How much RAM does the iPad mini have? The 512MB of the iPad 2 isn't enough, but 1GB is fine.

It also has 512Mb of ram, but it uses the A5 processor(so the one from the iPhone 4s), so the performance is pretty bad when comparing it to the iPad 2

how much is it? I can't see there being enough of a discount when you have tablets like the Nexus 7 2013 that literally wipe the floor with the iPad mini in every possible way. I have one and I almost use it more than my desktop if you discount gaming. It's flipping useful.

I have the ipad mini second gen and it lags after about 20 tabs in chrome when I'm looking at the porns. Otherwise it's fine.

I have 1 in my household that nobody uses anymore due to its dilapidated and bloated software. As far as I know it's functioning as a paper weight.

iPad 2 uses an A5 as well...

Point is that my iPhone 4S with iOS 8 is usable, but not great... My iPad Mini second gen is amazing (A7)... I was going to by the original mini, but when I saw the specs, I was convinced to hold off on that purchase...
