[Poll] Yu-Gi-Oh!

So, i have a friend who knows jackshit about technology and computers, but he likes Yu-Gi-Oh!, to an extreme degree... The only thing stopping him from doing something crazy (like buying thousands of original cards, which here are so expensive that you'd piss your pants...) is his compulsive need to spend his money on snacks and going out...

So, since i also like Yu-Gi-Oh! (not to his degree, but i'm almost always up to play a few parties, but i get bored easily, since it's not interactive enough), we usually fantasize about playing it with real holograms! :D

Since i know that we're decades away from Yu-Gi-Oh! level holograms, and after watching Austin Evans's video about "Meta One", which is like hybrid between OR and GG:

So, my question is, do you guys think that this kind of technology will ever be used for something like playing card games O.o

Please answer this Poll and leave your feedback in the comments below :)

P.S. I put this is General Discussion, since it is related to tech :)

Sure, why not. VR and AR are probably going to be pretty widespread in the coming future.

Yeah, it still is :D It's becoming increasingly ridiculous, but it is still ongoing :D

After original Yu-Gi-Oh! you have: GX, 5D's, Zexal and now Arc-V :D

My friend got me into it. I can beat anyone with my deck. So can he. Our decks win based on who goes first lol.

I don't even know how to play properly.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Dam that'd be cool, and if something like this is already available, within 8-11 years I'd say this could be how we play some, if not most, games.

Nek minute...

Amusphere

I always loved Yu-Gi-Oh, so playing it with headsets to replicate environment cards, spell/trap cards and such would be SOOOO awesome!!!!

Also Poke'mon too, wow...

I used to play yugimon up until 2 years ago because it's just so damn expensive. I still play the game online though.

I was pretty into it (I don't want to think about how much I spent on that game) when I was in middle school but I haven't played it in roughly 8 years. I still have my deck(s) in the basement all in card protectors actually. I prefer games like Hearthstone where I don't have to throw all of my money (only all of my time) to get good cards.

There's already an AR trading card game... I forgot the name but here's some pictures of the demo in one of the events I went to...

It's currently on iOSand Android... The cards are slightly expensive (imo), but the app is free...

Honestly what you have said here sounds like a perfect fit. It would be pretty easy for a card game developer to make a specific board for the oculus to see and show characters on when you are playing the game. Having the cards in the game to actually animated would be harder though because you would have to have some type of action so that the oculus would know that an attack or defense action is taking place. I'm not sure how you would do this with yugioh because of how the game is played, but if there was a card game made specifically for this it should work very well.

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.
