My first PC Build!

Go to solution Solved by AlwaysFSX,

My budget is about 800 dollars. So would you recommend scrapping the APU and going with a different graphics card as well? Or should I stick with the APU and change the graphics card?

Here's my suggestion:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($54.98 @ NCIX US)

Ok so this is my frist PC build ever, but I'm a little confused. So I put together this first build and it looks like this:

CPU: AMD A10 7850K Quad Core APU

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2+

Memory: G. Skill Ares Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-2400

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5'' 7200RPM Internal Hard

Video Card: MSI Radeon R7 260X 2GB Video Card

Case: Aerocool DS cube Black Edition Silent cube

Power Supply: SeaSonic 400W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power

I'm not a huge PC gamer, I prefer consoles, but there are a few PC games that I would like to play, like Assetto Corsa maybe. I thought that this would provide me with a value gaming solution as it would allow me to crossfire the r7 260x with the on board graphics.

But then I started looking around and I saw an AMD FX8320 which has 8 cores and runs at 3.5 GHz and is a little cheaper than the A10. But then I would have to get a better graphics card, and change the whole build really, and I would lose the value that the original build had.

Can I get some suggestions from you guys on what I should do? I'm really leaning toward A10 because of its value and the fact that it will get better over time as game developers start optimizing their games for Mantle.

He could get an APU but he might be better off going for an R7 250(x) so that he could access the integrated GPU and the dedicated GPU.

A dedicated gpu is ONLY good on a very tight budget (and by that I mean VERY tight).

a 760k + 270 ($200~) will beat a 7850k+250x ($240~)

APU -> No dedicated GPU

Dedicated GPU -> APU becomes useless

I would not buy that system. What's your budget for the system?

This.

Since you already have a GPU, you might as well get the better stand alone CPU, then spend the extra $30 into a better GPU.

Try to at least get a 280.

Can we have a your budget and location?

You can do better.

My budget is about 800 dollars. So would you recommend scrapping the APU and going with a different graphics card as well? Or should I stick with the APU and change the graphics card?

You're in luck because I just finished building a ~$850 build for somebody else.

If you're in the US...

I forgot to add a 1TB HDD. If this is out of range, take out the SSD and cut some corners.

Hey man, one more question. Do I have to get a wireless card or does the MOBO have on-board wireless capabilities?

You will need a wireless card. Which I think screws with the build because of the slots... I'll fiddle with it after taking a shower.
