Going from a R9 270X to a GTX 970

 270My brother is upgrading from a Gigabyte R9 270X to a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming, and I wanted to know if there's anything he needs to do beforehand to make sure there aren't any issues.

 

Like does he need to download things, uninstall things, reinstall, whatever?

He'll have enough wattage, he'll need to uninstall the AMD drivers and download the nvidia ones. Other than that he'll be fine.

nothing really just uninstall amd catylist and install nvidias

uninstall your AMD GPU drivers and remove anything to do with CCC

then download (but dont install) the drivers and gefore experience for your 970

after installing the 970, then install the drivers from the installer you downloaded :)

uninstall your AMD GPU drivers and remove anything to do with CCC

then download (but dont install) the drivers and gefore experience for your 970

after installing the 970, then install the drivers from the installer you downloaded :)

As much as I love the G1 Gaming and applaud you for choosing a good card and not jumping on the Strix bandwagon...

 

Why not add a second 270/270X/7850/7870?

I found if I uninstalled my drivers via device manager I would still have traces of the old drivers left.

Jk, all he really would need to do is remove the AMD 270x drivers and install the NVidia 970 drivers.

uninstall your old AMD drivers and install the new NVIDIA ones and you should be perfectly fine

This thread was answered in the second post, why do you all keep repeating the same thing? Even if it needed reiterating, two or three times should be enough.

If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."
