What is the two-way communication? And to make it a real connections dont they need a ISP?

two way communication is what makes the internet different from an archive. With the internet, you can ask for any page on any server that is connected to the internet. For example, you go to google and type in "linustechtips" then google will show you several million results that have something to do with linustechtips. This is because you sent a search request, and you get tons of results back.

With the outernet you are not connected to the internet. You only have acces to the outernet data servers which archive a small part of the internet. This means that you only have access to the web pages that they choose to archive. You cannot buy or download anything because you do not have a connection to the real servers, you just have an image of a webpage. You also cannot play any online games because outernet is an archive, not a connection. To download/buy/play you need two-way connection between the client and the server.

You can think of "outernet" as taking a picture of popular webpages/news sources and sending them to your computer. Can you read the webpage? yes. Can you play games, purchase/download items, watch youtube or livestreams, and upload stuff? no.

You can't watch YouTube?

You can't watch YouTube?

Nope because I highly doubt "outernet" will have enough storage to archive several exabytes of videos, especially when not all the videos will get any traffic at all.

Unless several thousand people vote to have a certain video streamed, there wont be any large databases like youtube, twitch, etc... on outernet.

Outernet is more for web pages like news sources, not for video streaming services.

Yes you can turn a Pi into a wifi hotspot as long as it has a satellite data connection (aka 3G or 4G) in which case the makers of the device would need to pay for several gigabit bandwidth to the internet.

3G and 4G is not satellite. ;L

PEWDIEPIE DONT CROSS THAT BRIDGE

Is there any way to make two-communication?

You're welcome :)

The makers of outernet said they might make it two-way communication in the future, but currently they are just starting the development of this project so you would probably have to wait several years before they even think about it.

If you want to be able to use the real internet on the go, you cant use the outernet. You will have to pay for one of these: (3G USB stick)

And pay for internet service to your computer. You can also use a cell's data plan and connect your computer to its wifi if you already have a phone.

But with outernet there is currently no way to access the net.

Lmao, if you read the page, they are trying to get funding for not just the device, but to get a swath of the satellite frequency spectrum assigned to them for 2MB/day/user data transfer. The chances of this happening are slim. Sure, the device can work, but then to try and snatch up a swath of the spectrum for this device, when let's face it... they won't come close to raising the same amount it will cost to purchase that spectrum, the idea falls flat, fast. On top of that, 2MB is not much data at all. For basic web pages, fine, but if you start trying to use audio or video, you'll find that 2MB is gone. As well, even if they managed to get enough to purchase their desired portion of the spectrum, they'd have to have an RFC written up that states it's specifically for the device... and that is not an easy task to go through.

Of course, if all this succeeds, I'll eat my words, but I'm a realist, and I don't think it will given the hurdles.

Just because it may seem like magic, I'm not a wizard, just a nerd. I am fallible.
