I wanted some good subwoofers for my PC, preferably BIG ones that get some serious thump.

I have a logitech z506 5.1 surround kit right now, but the sub is like 6 inches and while it's loud, I want it louder.

Can I use car subs? And if I can, how do I go about powering them+ wiring them up?

I want like 2 12's or 2 14/15's.

If you want big and loud, you could go with a Carwin-Vega http://www.cerwinvega.com/pro-audio/powered-speaker-system/active-subwoofer/cva-121.html

Where do I buy one, and how would I hook it up?

I don't know much about audio stuff besides headphones :s

the easiest setup would be to take a bazooka car sub and splitting one of the audio lines and feeding it to the sub which would take a 2 line input which is what you would get if you cut a 3.5mm lines from your computer

http://www.bazooka.com/

and to feed the sub's built in amp power feed it via old shitty PSU

I've ripped apart a PSU to power HID light bulbs for my halogen to HID conversion/retrofit on my car it is pretty easy to do. just be sure which line you use.

edit: you don't necessarily have to get the bazooka I just thought it was the most noob friendly. you can just go to a local pawn shop and pick up an amp/sub combo there take advantage of savings on the backs of people who don't know how to budget

I have a quick question about this.

What is a Subwoofer?

For my pertinent links to guides, reviews, and anything similar, go here, and look under the spoiler labeled such. A brief history of Unix and it's relation to OS X by Builder.

A speaker, seperate from the main speaker cabnet, typically built with a separate amp that provides the lowest audible frequencies heard.

Will work for electronic components and parts

you can have more than one now too. Mostly for really big rooms and silly imgur jokes:

I found the pic I took. the fan was there because I think you need a load to put on one of the lines or something. either way read the guides it is very easy to do, its been years since I did this so unable to provide further instruction

edit: before I get flamed for using electrical tape and the looks of it I only needed to power it up for a few minutes so I could adjust the shrouds with washers so that I could get the rainbow coloring effect to happen (refraction from the shroud)
