Wouldn't a pentium g3258 overclocked smoke the i3 and be much cheaper also not needing a cooler would be even cheaper another thing being he can get a 500b as the 285 is fairly power efficient. And even then saving money on the cpu cooler power supply and cpu he could get an r9 290.

Depends.

Do you have a living room? Want some fun with the family in the living room on a 60" TV? Then maybe a PS4 would be a good purchase. Yes, I would first reccomend a PC in the living room at that point + controllers. But still, consoles do living rooms very well still.

Well I mean he could get both....If we are talking about a 500 gaming rig his best choice would be AMD  It kinda breaks the bank but........He should be able to play most games just fine. With extra money to purchase tons of PC games.

No, what's the point of not having an aftermarket cooler you can use in the future, with the power supply, again the future.

Well what am saying is that if you don't purchase a operating system then you won't be able to do anything with the computer.

Unless your going to use Ubuntu

Because the way intel is going we might not need aftermarket cooling for overclocking in a few generations... And the 600W would be better for crossfire but I don't see why someone would use two 285's instead of just getting a better gpu later.
