rookiecrd1

So, a Russian company called 3D Bioprinting solutions claims t have a 3D printed Thyroid glad implanted into a mouse by the Middle of March 2015.  They also are planning on implanting the very first 3D printed kidney into a mouse sometime in 2018.  What are your thoughts?  Are they legit?

There are more details on this company in this article: http://3dprint.com/23805/bioprinted-throid-kidney/

If they can actually 3d print a kidney for a mouse within 3-4 years how long before us humans get such organs?  Opinions?

I'm not sure it is because most of the chatter coming out of Russia at the moment is Putin's Propaganda.

Even if it is, I doubt the NHS will be administering it to me any time soon.

Compatible with Windows 95

I'M NOT FAT, I HAVE THYROID PROBLEMS!

-Every fat person

Problems with your thyroid don't make you fat, being lazy makes you fat.

3D printed organs are cool, I wonder how long they last during normal operation.

Thyroid issues can also makes you thin. It's not an excuse for either party as the thyroid responds well to treatment.

Back on topic, i don't think we'll see anything like this on humans in years, decades even.

see part of me goes yay science, another part goes hmm, Russia has had  a dodgy history with what they claim and how close they really are. they are usually in the ballpark but exaggerate a little too much.

Well it depends on what they mean by successful, it could succesfully be implanted and functioning, but could have many side effects with it, such as incompatibility with the host leading to immune disorders etc :/

No dude, I just have big bones.

The stone cannot know why the chisel cleaves it; the iron cannot know why the fire scorches it. When thy life is cleft and scorched, when death and despair leap at thee, beat not thy breast and curse thy evil fate, but thank the Builder for the trials that shape thee.
