Now that youtube supports 1080p with a framerate of 60fps, what do you prefer? 4K or 1080/60?

For me it's definitely 60fps, with those smooth movements.

Coming from a 1080/60 video to a 1080,4k.../30 video feels so terrible..

I'm gonna stick to 1080p for now, my CPU doesn't handle 4k video very well, that or its my internet speed that causes issues with it. (i5 4690K, no gpu, 30mb/s download speed, 6mb/s upload speed)

I don't have a 4k monitor aswell but to me it looks like that the higher bitrade it's compressed at, makes 4k looks sharper even on a 1080p monitor. Did anyone else make this observation or is it just me?

I think that's just your brain going "Well it's 4k, so it'll look better" when there's actually no difference, as you're on a 1080p panel

i have noticed that too, but i prefer 1080 just because i dont have to deal with any buffering. Even though i have a 130 mb/s connection,  4k still loads really slow. Gotta love comcast......

yeah but "Youtube-1080p" isn't the same as "bluray-1080p" as youtube compresses it quite a lot. They do the same with 4k but the 4k still has a lot more information in it, so what you see on your screen is like a higher bitrate 1080p. Does this make any sense?

Actually that's wrong. The video will look better as Youtube wil play it at a higher bitrate.

No, there is a difference. Its the same principle as nvidias dsr.

It'll look nicer as it'll play at a higher bitrate, try it rather than guessing.

What? No. DSR is downsampling. Youtube simply plays back the video at a higher bitrate at 4k...

same basic principle though, you have simply have more information that is being calculated per pixel. While bit-rate plays a factor, it is not the only thing that makes it look better. The 4k content on youtube still has to be down-sampled at some point to make it viewable on a 1080p screen.
