My final problem (I think)

AlwaysFSX
Go to solution Solved by AlwaysFSX,

Start/ Right click on Computer/ Manage /Services

So I went to services, started to scroll around looking for the ones responsible for an internet connection. I found two pertaining to the task, one was started, the other was not and set to manual. Started the service and set it to automatic, internet works.

Huh, I'll have to remember this. I think that's resolved pretty much every problem except for the random dllhost.exe spam it's been experiencing.

So I've been having problems with a computer, and I think I've resolved all of them but created another in the process by accident.

The laptop will no longer connect to the internet, troubleshooting does not work, and I have scoured the internet to no avail. I present, this:

post-1744-0-75849200-1414986659.png

It seems that the file specified was deleted in the cleanup and I have no idea how to fix this. What can I do?

Did you use combofix?

Try uploading the log file in their forums as they have dedicated people for these type of problems...

Windows Repair is borked in the first place, bad sectors. Never had an install disk to begin with.

If it relates to a program, reinstall it.

Or just nuke it and start fresh.

Get an iso from windows? (or go to that site... you know which one I'm talking about...)

Someone doesn't read the OP and nuking it is something I'd like to do to those suggestions...

I would still run in to the repair problem as I said above.

The only other suggestion I got is getting a live USB of linux, get the important files off, nuke it and start fresh...

I don't know.. I was hoping someone here knew how to fix a file problem without nuking the computer after all the work I did to fix it.

@AlwaysFSX, have you thought about the forgotten tool in Windows, System Restore? I've accidentally messed up my computer on several occasions and System Restore has got me out of my problems every time. Especially something like that. :)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

Done, nothing came up to fix.

See that only works when you actually create a restore point to restore to...

Right click on the network adapter. Disable and enable

Tried, nothing happened. Do get this though:

That got us somewhere...

Go into msconfig and enable all windows services... Reboot...

Try disabling the actual network driver in device manager, restart, and re-enable it. I had a issue on my laptop once where i couldn't get either wifi or ethernet connections working and that is all it took to get it working again.
