My final problem (I think)

Go to solution Solved by AlwaysFSX,

Start/ Right click on Computer/ Manage /Services

So I went to services, started to scroll around looking for the ones responsible for an internet connection. I found two pertaining to the task, one was started, the other was not and set to manual. Started the service and set it to automatic, internet works.

Huh, I'll have to remember this. I think that's resolved pretty much every problem except for the random dllhost.exe spam it's been experiencing.

If all else fails, Nuke and Pave is the way to go. Get your pics and game saves, then wipe and reinstall. Saves time and frustration.

EDIT: have you tried restarting your router/modem? Or a different network adapter?

It's all adapters, not the router.

Good sir have you tried to use Pandora File recovery ? You should try it and see if you can recover the file that way.

I have not, I'll give it a try.

@AlwaysFSX, open up System Restore and then post us a screenshot of your available restore points. :)

(too lazy to screenshot right now) There's a restore point from yesterday after Windows Update (also when it had the boatload of problems)

Try disabling the actual network driver in device manager, restart, and re-enable it. I had a issue on my laptop once where i couldn't get either wifi or ethernet connections working and that is all it took to get it working again.

Tried, does not do anything.

So you marked your post as the best answer? lol Your welcome

Well it had all the information of your post and what I did in mine.

@AlwaysFSX I take it you'll be taking care of the crapware now?

No, I think I'll leave it and call it James.
