You sure you aren't capped at SATA 1 or something?

LOL my board doesnt even have anything else than sata 3 ports... :D

Somethings is wrong with yours then...

I have an Ultra Plus in my laptop and it's no slouch.

Upgrade CPU cooling?

 

Not gonna get a huge temp drop, but if you do some research you can find some good value for the money.
