Been trying for a while now. Not many girls these days that want to date someone who prefers staying in as opposed to going out into the freakshow. Or just want to go party all the time, not really my thing. I prefer staying in and watching movies, playing games or reading a book. Don't mind a trip to the park, but cities are pretty much worthless places to visit for me unless you need something.

Doesn't always stop them, and that law comes with blurs as well. What about a girlfriend and boyfriend, one of which is 15, and the other is 16, or 17 and 18? This is one of the positives of the U.S.  Even though I wouldn't condone this to everything, it's more or less freedom of expression.  It shouldn't be illegal to own anything or create anything that doesn't harm anyone else.  If it were a cartoon depiction of a real person then it's harassment, but otherwise it's considered art.  Just look at a lot of art, that has nudity (sometime children) yet people place in public museums.

Maybe it is. Prosecuting people with cartoon pictures is still basically a thought crime. And we should be scared to death of thought crimes in any form.

I never claimed it causes real abuse or equates to the same, I do of course see it seperately, and while I view it differently I still dislike it as a milder form of paedophilia.

Not completely accurate. While there are certainly arts that choose to focus on the age of the subject, there are others that (in my opinion more accurately) focus on the cuteness of the subject. This is especially true with most loli art, with their exaggerations of already child-like features.

To make a judgement in a case you would need to view the actual images in the possession of the defendant, I'm not trying to deny the existence of cutesy anime I am more acknowledging the possibility for it to be clear cut animated child sex.

 

Maybe he had cutesy stuff and this was unfair, or maybe he had more than that but given the fact he was sentenced to prison on what appears to be his first 'offence' I'm lending myself to assume it was likely the latter.

 

I'm with you on the stance of 'don't forget innocence exists and assume malintent', and at the same time I add 'don't forget Rule 34', someone is drawing it and someone is viewing it no matter the flavour.

The only way for that to have a victim is if actual child pornography was used in the process, which would imply possession of such material, which is illegal. Without that, it's just a work of the mind. Even if that work is obscene, one should not be subject to punishment when there is no victim to be compensated.

Well in 2012 he was already on the sex offender list for getting caught having "Tomb Raider-style computer-generated pictures of fictional children". It does not mention how they caught him that time though.

Might have been a honey pot, might have been someone overlooking him, might have been the government spying on him. The article does mention that he has only been caught with fictional stuff, never anything real. There might be some articles about it the first time he got caught.
