Hey everyone! There are so many options and I'm confused. Which antivirus software is the best? I know this can be subjective but I just want to hear your opinions. :) Thanks.

Another vote for AVG + Malwarebytes.

Always have both realtime (AVG) and manually ran (MB).

Used both at a PC repair shop for several years, used them to get rid of viruses most paid crap missed.

As long you don't click on anything that seems fishy, you're okay

Suppose this would be true so long as your firewall is up to the task but the default windows firewall is just rubbish. I am currently studying in the area of computer networking and other tech. We had a 3 month class all about hacking basics and being able to get into computers that are open (aka windows firewall and no AV) without being detected. It got to the point I could get a remote shell and do whatever I liked without the user knowing.

Get a better firewall and the easiest way to do that is to use a free AV such as Avast.

Windows Firewall is crap(IMO), the best would be to get AVG or Avast + Malwarebytes and use Common Sense

I would recommend Malwarebytes + Bitdefender (it's not free but it's a nice one). According to the rating detection feature. http://www.clubic.com/article-77079-2-guide-comparatif-meilleur-antivirus.html

Avast isn't bad either.

Hmm, like I said there are too many options. I already have Malwarebytes and really like it. What is this 'Common Sense' you guys are talking about? Never heard of it. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

And what about nod32?

ESET and malwarebytes

I'm surprised you are the only one suggesting ESET, I thought it was a good one.

Its very good but costs money which I think a bunch of people dont want to spend. Also I only suggest the antivirus not the internet security. Also get full Malwarebytes Pro or Premium because otherwise it only takes stuff off your PC once its on, not prevent it from getting on.

Thanks for the advice man, what about Avast Premier? Looks like an all-in-one solution.

Id probably just get ESET because ive had such a good experience with it over the years. Also unlike Norton and McAfee when a software up[date comes out you get it for free and just have to renew instead of having to go buy 2014 edition.

Both of regularly go on sale on Newegg.
