Will the onboard ASUS Z87-PRO run Audio Technica: ATH-AG1?

Voltekka

Im looking to get Audio Technica ath-ag1 or ath-adg1, but just wondering if the onboard soundcard will run it?

They're 38Ohm headphones, so yes, they should sound fine.

I don't see any headphone amp on your board so you will lose a little bit of signal, mainly base, due to the impedance being 6 Ohms higher than the rating your soundcards output can handle.

Don't plug them into the front panel, they'll sound even worse. Lots more noise.

Would it be worth my while to invest on a soundcard?

No.

Your headphone a low enough impedance than you should be fine with the onboard audio. Spend that money on an amp or DAC

How do you know what onboard he has and what its output impedance is?

The really question is why you are over paying for AD500x's with a Modmic glued to it.

But did you use the force?

I'm just going to assume you made up the number or you Google'd the specs of the Realtek chip the mobo has without realizing that individual implementation matters as well.
