Is it a good idea to sell custom PCs on ebay?

Don't you have to pay for listing a product for a certain period of time and also give them a percentage of what you earned? All in all, is it a good idea? Discuss.

You have to pay for listing, but it is fairly cheap (less than $5), and you have to give paypal a small percentage of your earnings, but if you are desperate to sell it, it isn't all too bad.

As a seller, eBay gives you 50 listings (limit $10,000) for free each month, after that they charge you for listing items for sale. And yes, they do take 10% of your sale gross income per sold item.

So if you sell 10 custom PCs on eBay each month for say $1,000 each, you could make a killing and eBay would only take 10% of that profit. (~$1,000)

Do you think it's worth it? (Paying 1k to ebay for said 10 PCs)

As a side job, sure. If you can make a $600 - $750 build out of your own pocket, sell it for $800 - 1,000. You could make some nice change. Do two or three PCs a month and you could have a nice stack of cash in a few months.

As for the 10% thing, everybody pays some kind of royalty. Computer shops pay taxes and commercial rent. Online stores pay for hosting and shipping costs. You gotta spend money to make money.

seriously, I don't feel like to buy a custom pc on ebay.....and if you're asking whether I'd like to sell pc on ebay, when coming to release the extra fee, I agree with Akula.

NO!!! if you look at the final value fees on electronics its plain extortion, i was going to list my TV on there but out of the £450 they wanted a final value fee of £46!!!!

You could try Craigslist as well.

But wouldn't people need to be local in order to buy my product?

They have their own website:https://www.vibox.co.uk/

Dunno if its in other countries.

Yes they do allow paypal on their website and that means they would allow it through the other websites as well. Just so you know on Amazon some of their computers come with games(outside of never settle bundle). Also some of their computers dont come with windows installed yet.

From all the YouTubeers i've seen they say it isn't worth it. I don't think so either. There are already large companies like PCSpecialist here in the UK who do it cheaper.

The paypal and eBay fees are quite high... you lose more money to eBay the higher your item sells.
You can try to minimise cost by allowing collection only and pay cash directly or through bank transfer.

eBay already makes so much from eBay listing fee, final selling price as well as from paypal.
I bought a PC through eBay once.. and the seller had to pay like £100 as fees alone.

I've found that a lot of Ebay gaming PC's are over priced.

Like, i've seen people listing gaming rigs with a "beast $1000 graphics card", when its just a GTX295. May have been a grand when they bought it but seriosly now it's really not worth a lot at all.

I suppose that the sellers are hoping someone uneducated will pay more than its worth. The first few listings with your account are free, so in that case it's worth listing your your rig for a high price in hope that some fool will buy it (if you're someone who is concerned more about money than ethic).
