Nvidia sheild (tablet or portable) as a mobile device first, game stream second.

OK so im a really big fan of the nvidia sheilds, but i cant really use them for game stream.

 

i have a shitty base router and the only nvidia gpu i have is a gtx 645, it does support game stream but the performance of it is weak, and only has 1 gb gddr5 memory.

 

so i would mainly be using the shield for android games and as a tablet (or game device) 

 

i think i would perfer to have a tablet, but the tablet does not have a controller and is more already, and needs to have the controller to be effective, otherwise i could go get a nexus 7.

 

so i would like your opinions on this.

I would say then not to worry about GameStream. Get an LG GPad 8, ASUS Nexus 7, HTC Nexus 9 (when it comes around) or the Xiaomi MiPad (this way, you aren't spending boatloads but can still do GameStream reliably in the future with Limelight.

 

From owning a Shield, you need a good router and good GPU.

Limelight is an application that lets you stream from NVIDIA-based GeForce GTX 6xx, 7xx and 9xx series GPUs from your device. As an application, it works the same as NVIDIA's stock implementation. The Tegra Note is still decent, but I would recommend the GPad or N7 over it because of the nicer screens.

I personally think that the Nvidia shield tablet will be better than the Nexus 9 if the rumor of the 4:3 aspect ratio is true, which is what it seems to be...

get a nexus 7 and one of those refurb 3ds for $99 same price as the shield tablet.
