The thing is I can only spend $1200 in both a desktop and a laptop, so any money that I invest in the laptop I'm taking from my desktop rig :S I study in one city and travel to another quite frequently and I don't want to loose the ability to play some games

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270 2GB Dual-X Video Card  ($149.99 @ Newegg)

$1210 (not including windows on the PC)

I'm planning to buy a new media/light gaming laptop and HP prices are so good to not look at, but I'm still concerned about their build quality and lifespan. If so, any good laptop for under $600 and max 14"?

The resolution is a tad on the low side. 768p was acceptable in 2008. I'm looking for any other laptops.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

If you can spend $110 more you can get a pretty good one:

And my experience with lenovo has been better than the one with hp.
