Skyrim is porn

chimmychunger

It's a mutual thought, the modding community for Skyrim lately has been mainly about fetishes and has this hentai vibe about it. Not just that but it is pretty sexist in the way they objectify women and honestly the mod nexus should not allow them to host that sort of content.

I haven't tried too many mods in Skyrim outside of some standard graphical ones, so I'm not fully aware of what some of these mods entail. Still, from what it sounds like(naked NPCs, bikini armor and such?), it's more sexualization than objectification, which I don't think is inherently bad or sexist. Lacking in maturity? Sure. In my mind, objectification is when in Witcher 1, you get in-game naked cards of every woman Geralt has sex with. Thankfully, like naked mods in Skyrim, that's something you can avoid easily.

And what's the problem? The modding scene in Oblivion was much much worse, welcome to the internet. I have over 750 hours banked on Skyrim and I have never installed a mod or workshop item. I guess I'm one of the few people who enjoys TES for what it is.

Well, it's actually objectification if you look at what the mods generally are for. A good example is in this thread where the key hole is supposed to be the arse of a women....

Right, better to judge someone for what they do one their own time, and force them to go to torrents and stuff to get the mods they want, and possibly virus's as well.

It's not all porn, that's just what you see if you look for it. When I load up nexus it's mainly armor, graphics, new content, etc. Have to actually look for a good while to see stuff like CBBE

I don't know if you can really call the game itself or Bethesda sexist based on what individual modders do with the game. Personally, I have over 50 GB of mods installed for my Skyrim game, and I would say that they are 100% Vanilla enhancement mods with no potentially sexist content. It was not hard to avoid all the sexual content on the nexus and I came to the realization, after spending many many hours searching for and installing mods, that that content is simply there if you want it. I also realized when playing/modding Oblivion that it is significantly easier to create a good looking skimpy female armor than it is to create a good looking male or nonskimpy female armor because of the base skeleton Bethesda uses.

Per the complaints about the game not looking good, the reality is that Skyrim was a massive success because it was made extremely popular by console gamers. But for it to run well on XBOX 360, it was basically necessitated that it look like crap in the first place (in terms of texture quality, meshes, percentage of 3d rendered details and models, etc.). I knew, as did anyone who really enjoyed playing Oblivion on PC right up until the minute Skyrim was released, that I was going to mod the crap out of Skyrim and skill feel like the game was a great success for Bethesda. The quality of the game (not whether you like it or find it fun) is in the writing, the combat mechanics, the freedom of the open world environment, and the fact that it's one of the most uniquely designed RPGs out there. Before simply stating that the game isn't original, please consider what games were available before Skyrim came out that would make it unoriginal.

Still, this is all opinion, and you all may have different opinions of the game. I guess I would just say that out of more than 200 RPG games under my belt, the Elder Scrolls series and Skyrim in particular are a few of very small percentage that I ever replay.

What do you base that on besides your opinion? Do you have any statistics? Here are some of the most popular ones straight off a quick search on Nexus:

2K Textures:11,557,341 downloads

UI Replacement: 7,443,102 downloads

Improved body model (with optional nudity): 6,106,168 downloads

Extra Hairstyles: 5,940,518 downloads

Immersive lore friendly armors: 3,898,766 downloads

Adult themed armors: 2,093,395 downloads

I was in the Oblivion modding scene and I can tell you that the amount of adult mods was much higher and far more perverted compared to what there is now. Compared to its predecessor, Skyrim is pretty tame with it's mods. Skyrim has tons of lore-friendly mods, and if you play the game through Steam like your average user you will use what you find in the Steam Workshop which has practically no adult themed mods whatsoever. Stop misusing sexism, you don't even understand what it means.

You clearly haven't been looking hard enough. There's several that do this, extremely well.

I already have something for hunger, thirst and sleep. But I haven't found anything to give me realistic wounds, using nothing but potions to heal gets boring, I want to do some bandaging as well...

If I were to find a mod to give me proper wounding I would probably get back to the game.

Repressed memories.. coming.. back..

But yeah. The oblivion modding scene was just crazy (And still is. I've tried to get it up to skyrim graphics with mods.. There are still a large amount of adult mods. But many of the worst ones are gone)

I'm curious what first person RPGs you think have better mechanics. Personally, I don't know that there are any. Of course, it's all preference at a point and I certainly think certain aspects could have been much better, but it still seems very hard to beat.

P.S. please don't list games like Assassin's Creed, The Witcher, Thief, Fable, etc. as these games are not remotely in the same genre as the Elder Scroll series games. I'm talking first person RPGs nonsticky combat systems.

I wasnt going to list any, i just think it's pretty cack. Not much difference to FPS RPG's ive played in the distant past.

There was one, but the author ended up stopping due to him saying it was just too much of a hassle getting it to work smoothly iirc. Was ages ago so can't remember what the exact reason was.

I also find it weird. The amount of people on Skyrim to date is worrying considering most of the mods are actually like that.

The amount of silly mods like that is astounding, (and to me) weird.

I completely agree. It would be fine if the mods were just here and there but they are everywhere. It's just annoying and gross.
