250D water cooling questions

Okay. Well tubing and fittings first.

For the tubing you're going to want thin tubing that still allows a decent flow rate in a small case like the 250D. I recommend you go with 3/8 ID 1/2 OD Primochill Advanced LRT tubing.

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17883/ex-tub-1615/PrimoChill_PrimoFlex_Advanced_LRT_Tubing_38ID_x_12_OD_-_10ft_Retail_Pack_-_Brilliant_UV_Blue_PFLEXA10-12-B_w_Free_Sys_Prep.html?tl=g30c99s171#blank

Fittings: Compression fittings look the cleanest and the quality from reputable brands is roughly the same. The cheapest are Monsoon Free Center compression fittings, they come in 6-packs. These would also have to be 3/8 ID 1/2 OD. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16651/ex-tub-1330/Monsoon_Free_Center_Compression_Fitting_-_38ID_x_12OD_-_Modders_6_Pack_Black_Chrome_FCC-3812-6P-BC.html#blank

Coolant: your best bet for a no muss no fuss solution is distilled water + a biocide (to prevent waterborne organisms) like a pure silver kill coil or liquid biocide like I&H DeadWater.

If you do want colored coolant, I recommend Mayhems X1. Keep in mind that most of their bright colors stain your water blocks over time and maybe also your tubing.

10ft of tubing is more than enough (allows you some good head room to make mistakes) and the rule for fittings is two per components (IN and OUT). So two rads, two water blocks, a pump and a res would be 10-12 fittings depending on whether the pump and res are a combo or not.

Other general rules:

Loop order doesn't matter, only your res needs to come directly before the pump. Ideally above to pump so that the pump gets gravity fed.

Make sure you do a proper 24-hour leak test, with scotch towels on key components.

Never let your pump run dry.

Take your time and plan out your loop. Tubing routes, which way the radiator ports are facing etc.

Don't forget to rinse the insides of your rads before installing, the first few rinses can be done with tap water. The last one or two rinses with distilled water.

These are the tips that come to mind right now. Singularity Computers on YT is also worth checking out. He's a true water cooling master IMO.

P.S: I realized at the end that you said coolant and tubing and not fittings and tubing.. :P I left the fittings part in anyway.

Thanks so much :D so, if I got a 3/8 ID 1/2 OD acrylic tubing will that be a difference? And im going to get the case when i get a job here very soon, so I can check out the case irl so I have a idea what im working with. Also Do you know of any good PSU with black cables I think the Corsair RM650 is good for the case and looks.

here is a picture of this psu in this case: http://gyazo.com/6fc7cef3b42b261c360a2e97ed851ed7

There's no difference in size obviously but acrylic tubing does bring new challenges. Make sure you do your research on how to bend it, install it etc. and you should be fine.

I know the Corsair RM series and IMO they're overpriced and while they don't even have all Japanese caps. The EVGA 750W G2 is a great alternative. 10 year warranty, 80+ Gold, Fully-modular, black cables (not flat like the RM series though), more W for the price and all Japanese capacitors. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr

I could always get extensions for it or make my own. And that 80+ Gold will sound good to my parents lol.

p.s I love EVGA :D

Will the thicker tubing be a problem any where? like bending, size, and a stronger pump?

I am running the 250D with H100i (intel 4770k around 45c in quiet mode) for the CPU my 780Ti (Asus DirectCU II OC) cool's it self quiet enough I think. I looked into a 200 mm rad for the system, I assumed it would fit ? but am just using the AIO for the time being.

Nah, you won't need a stronger pump for thicker tubing. With flexible tubing a factor to keep in mind is that the thicker the tubing the less it can bend before getting kinks. With acrylic tubing only problem can be if it won't physically fit somewhere but it shouldn't be a problem if you plan everything out before you buy.

Well I know my cpu runs cold with a H60 on to (i5-4670k) at 30c . So I thought a GPU would be fine with a 240 rad.

If you go to one of their stores personally, yes.

Good :) And do you think they carry water cooling parts? like res/pump and rads and maybe tubing?

so i can test fit on the spot?

The have a few things like the Alphacool VPP655 with pump top. I think you're going to have to find a very friendly store attendant that's gonna let you do test fittings. :P

Just Google 250D water cooled or 250D water cooling and check out build of others before you. Look how they did it.

I did and not many people have water cooled 250Ds. Most don't say the parts they used but one of them said a 30mm thick rad, but it had the 5.25" bay removed... I am going to use a different pump and rad placement so I might have the 5.25" bay.

To ask a question or read?

Read, usually there are plenty of WC builds among them and they give detailed description of parts used etc.

Okay, what I see is that I can use a 240mm 30mm thick rad and a 120mm in front. The temps are good. some people say its really nice to water cool in. Good for modding. They suggest cable extensions for a better look.
