x99 because you can get it for about the smae and you ca probably upgrade to a 8core for like 500 dollars in a year and the 5820k is 379 for 6cores

If you're building a gaming rig go with z97. If you're building an editing and rendering rig, then go for the x99 for the extra cores. That's about it as far as I can see. Z97 gives better gaming performance, while x99 is better for professional applications like 3d rendering and video editing.... Either way you go, your rig should be pretty "future-proofed." Just because skylake comes out soon, doesn't mean that programs that require it's promised performance and features are anywhere near release. In fact, programmers and game creators tend to enable their programs to run on low end PCs when they create their programs and games in order to attract a bigger consumer base (not everybody has a 4,000$ super computer, but more probably have something in the 600-1,200$ range). So as long as you get something that is current gen it should last you a good long while. So my recommendation is this. If you're going to use the computer for more professional applications such as rendering and video editing, or even playing games while recording game-play or streaming to twitch tv, then I'd recommend the x99 platform with a 4930k processor. However if you're simply building a rig for nothing but gaming and not much else I'd go with the z97 platform with a 4790k processor, as it still outperforms the shiny new x99 platform in gaming performance.

So those are my recommendations, and either way you go your computer should last a good long while regardless of the skylake release. And I wouldn't doubt that once skylake is released, people would be telling you to wait for the next big release in the computing world. It's just how the computer market grows. I once heard a joke that once you buy a fancy new computer, you may as well throw it in the trash because it's already out-dated. Anywhoo, I hope I helped, and Happy Building!!!

so you are asking for our opinion yet you don't want opinions? Interesting!

Either way, what do you plan on doing with the PC? You can build an x79 build and still use it in 3 years.

True, but look at EP. It's used a different socket and it's still "2011". If anything, I think it'd use the v3 socket, not the one the 4930k does.

It seems you're quite confused with this different chipsets that currently out there right now

Again here is your thread: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/226278-just-want-to-reassure/#entry3099491

thread where you gone FFFUUUUUUU: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/213033-first-build-a-monster-one-3400/page-2 (post #29)

The build you had configured uses Z97 board and this is currently the most updated on the mainstream side of things.

This board run on socket 1150,  supports the current Haswell and later on Broadwell.

Intel X79 is outdated, it's runs on socket 2011 and no one in that other thread even suggested a X79 build. Your getting yourself confused between X79 and Z97.

X99 is the current platform for the high-end, it uses socket 2011-3, currently supports Haswell-E and later on Broadwell-E

Skylake-S will use a totally different socket and possibly new ram so whether you get Z97 or X99, both will have to be change when Skylake arrives.

X79: socket 2011, beyond 4 cores, quad channel DDR3, supports Sandy Bridge-E and Ivy Bridge-E <outdated>

Z97: socket 1150, 4 core cpus max, dual channel DDR3, supports Haswell and Broadwell cpus

X99: socket 2011-3, beyond 4 cores, quad channel DDR4, supports Haswell-E and Broadwell-E

Z170: socket 1151, 4 cores max, dual channel DDR3 or DDR4, Skylake

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz 6C:12T / CM212 Evo / Asus X99 Deluxe / 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000 Trident-Z / Samsung 850 Pro 256GB / Intel 335 240GB / WD Red 2 & 3TB / Antec 850w / RTX 2070 / Win10 Pro x64

x99 supports DDR4. The CPUs are newer so they are definitely more powerful. Why would anyone say that something older is more futureproof than something newer?

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k | CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 | Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 MARK 1 | Memory: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB 1866MHz | GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB Windforce

I'm assuming that he either meant x79 is going to be more future proof, or x79 is going to be the way to go for future proofing. And "than" instead of "that".
Hard to say. His sentence structure and grammar are absolutely terrible.

HERE IS THE IMPROVED VERSION OF THIS ^

many time I have created threads about which system should I go for? The new one or the previous one. Many people say that the z97 is thing to go for if you are gaming. Month ago, many people said that I should just wait for 5th gen processor, new motherboards and rams, and when they were released, maybe after few days I came up with the newer build. So this is how people were like,

'No way if you are into just gaming then it's not going to benefit you'

'What's all that horsepower for?'

'i7 5820K doesn't do well with dual graphics card go for i7 5930K instead'

You know guys I am fed up with all this bull shit people come with. It's been FUCKING 2.5 years that I am still planning on which system to buy.

Now this is it, I want a clear final answer with no "bull shit inside". So I am going to present my newer build now.

Look here is the final answer. Buy the X99 the 6/8 cores will benefit you when you're rendering/editing. Also when games let you use more than 4 cores, you'll get better performance.

I think you need to calm down or you will end up alienating yourself, as a lot of People won't help if you are posting in an aggressive manner.

If you are just gaming then Z97 is an excellent platform. There is still Broadwell to be released next year which is on the same platform. If you are doing Video editing and Rendering then Z97 is still a good choice.

If you need the extra cores/threads that X99 offers then go with that. Just make sure that your software can make full use of the extra cores/threads otherwise there is little point buying X99.

If you are only going 2 way SLI/CF then the 5820K is a better buy over the 5930K on the X99 platform. Anything over 2 way and the 5930K has the slight edge due to the extra  pci-e lanes.

4790k and all other socket 1150 cpus has only 16 pcie lanes.

For gaming , 4790k is a good choice because current games don't go beyond 4 cores.

5820k running on socket 2011-3,has 28 pcie lanes, for content creation go with this platorm, cause the extra cores will benefit with the rendering.

5930k and 5960x both have 40 pcie lanes.

This platform can play games too.

If you have the budget (Which you do) and don't mind spending the extra money that X99 costs, then go for it. Neither socket is a bad choice though.
