Ok, so I have a 780Ti, which has 4 outputs, I have 6 monitors, so then I purchased a DP hub, so that I could connect all 6 to one card, as the bandwith is there, and I know this works with AMD...

I get this error:

I look into it a bit more, and realize that the 980 has 5 outputs, but only supports 4 monitors, WHY? O.o

For me it now seems like the only solution is to swap to AMD... :(

That way someone who has 4 monitors but lacks one of the 4 connectors can just use an extra of the same cable they have (if that makes sense).

I.E. if they have 3 DP connectors but only one DVI.

It's better then with the 500 series and before, those only supported 2 monitors / GPU.

Is that 4 monitors with surround? It would be kinda stupid if no support for more monitors.

That's so you have choice maybe? It depends on what your monitor supports ofcourse

well since the 780 ti only supports 4 monitors (it says on the box and the manual) it only supports 4

also 980 has 5 out puts because it has essentially legacy connectors.

If you buy 2 cards it supports 8 :D

It has a HARD limit at 4 coded into the driver, which is stupid

I don't think they have any other limit than the bandwith (If u have enough connectors)

As said above most of the connectors are just legacy for peoples older monitors. Doesnt mean you can use them all at the same time. Personally I went with AMD GPU's with my eyefinity build for percisly this reason (+ the software drivers for Nvidia suck for surround IMO)
