There's not much you can do to "get more fps" honestly.

You can't do anything other than upgrade your system

Yea, the FX-8320 is a pretty good CPU. I have the FX-8320 also paired with an R9 270. I can play BF4 on Ultra preset (1080P), around 45 average FPS.

Lower the graphical settings (could potentially gain a good few frames) turning AA down/off (if you're using it) is a good place to start.

You could overclock your GPU but don't expect a massive gain from it.

Get the DX10 fixer and run the the DX10 preview mode. I doubled my frame rate.

You'll need a new CPU and faster memory for raw performance in DX9.

Flight simulator is much faster on Intel. Poor core usage, old game and you are limited to how fast you are on those cores (and it is like a 1 core game). I7 k will not do anything for you over an I5 k unless the clock is higher. Overclocking helps.

Here are single core benchmarks from users on LTT on Cinebench R15 on a bunch of chips. The higher that number is, the better the game is going to run.

I7 can be slightly faster in some newer game (but not much), and renders faster (can click the multicore benchmarks). Also a nice chip if you stream or record gameplay. You could go with the G3258, but that thing will struggle in newer games in the coming years. It would prob be great in FSX on a high overclock though and the cheapest possible option to run the game well.
