Is 144hz worth it? Is 1ms response time worth it?

Go to solution Solved by GloriousPain,

IMHO if your a content consume or office slave get a 30hz IPS or PLS display (cheaper and easier on the eyes) if your a casual gamer or do slow paced gaming or content creation 60Hz IPS or PLS (Slightly faster but very very beautiful) or if your a gamer who relies on reflexs and instincts... Have a rig that can power it... and is competitive go for 144Hz 1ms TN

It depends, this matter is subjective. Some people think yes, while others cant tell a difference.

Try it out and then decide for yourself if its worth the extra money.

I just got a BenQ XL114z 144hz monitor with 1ms response time and I was previously using a Dell P2414H with an 8ms response time...Playing BF3 I didnt notice a huge difference when I started to use the 144hz monitor--it wasn't night and day to me....Now that I'm starting to get used to 144hz, going back to 60z may be apparent, but like I said, I just got the BenQ monitor, so I dont really know yet.......

My point being, it's extremely subjective.

Shoot me, looking at this from a price perspective and difference.

Having gamed at 144hz for a few months I can say above 80 or so there is no perceivable difference to me. But going back to 60hz max is something I will not do by my own volition. Sometimes I find myself craving a shiny new IPS but I can't sacrifice the frame rates. I think it's safe to say that as long as you have no frame of reference for higher than 60 you can't really feel like it's missing. Therefore stick with 60hz if you feel you'll regret giving up IPS or something, unless you really don't care about that and want to experience 144hz. It is indeed awesome.
