What Ship? Does it matter?

So I'm willing to drop as much as $300 on the game but I don't know what ship I want or if there are different perspectives to different ships. If I get a cargo ship can I not fight, if I get a gunner or a ghost ship can I not ship freight? Whats the objectives of the game. Does Linus's video cover this?

The Constellation is a very popular ship which can fight but also carry quite a bit, and I seem to remember it costing only a little over $300

Myself I got a retaliator: a teeny bit cheaper, also with a lot of firepower, and almost as much cargo capacity.

Looks like a good ship. Where can I find what the game is mostly about. I mean I'm interested this is probably going to be the best made space game however I don't want to just randomly drop $300 with out reason.

All of the extra stuff like glossy posters, 4 ship blue prints and the deluxe silver collectors box. Is this stuff they physically ship to you or is it digital items?

Tricky question... well, this subforum seems pretty populated, but you might want to head over to http://robertsspaceindustries.com and look through the various things they've published since the beginning where they tell you just that

if it does not say digital download Then Its a physical object that goes to your door.

I have the Freelancer+ package, which includes physical stuff. The Andromeda and the Phoneix(which sadly you can't get anymore) both have a snub fighter for close range support and turrets which allow you to defend yourself from smaller fighters. it does need a crew, of PC's or NPC's. it's a really nice ship. most of the connie packages include physical stuff.

 

All the ships have different roles, fly differently, and have different strengths. think of it this way, we have thousands of different cars, some are beter, some are worse all get you from A to B an F1 car will get you there faster but you can't take anything with you. a semi truck will get you there slower but you can take tons of crap along for the ride. So the real question is what do you want to do in the game.

$300? I'd go for the Constellation Andromeda. It has quite a big cargo space and has enough weapons to take on 3 Hornets at the same time (presumably).

It's $275 in the Pledge store.
