Why NOT to get a mac?

Borkpaladin

Show me any proof that it runs 700 minutes of battery life and I'm sold.

Yea I think 700 minutes( 11.66 hours) is stretching it.

If you are saying you will be editing videos, recording songs, and gaming at home, then you don't need to spend as much on your laptop if I'm right. MAC's are good machines, tho since all you doing mainly is brining it to school to write essays and basic editing etc, then why not just get an lower end/mid tier ultrabook or something, and save maybe a bit of money, just IMO

Any ideas?

I'm in Australia so everything's at least a little price hiked.

Not to mention Macs really don't run games particularly well.

That doesn't make any sense.

Doesn't run games well =/= Doesn't have a large selection of games.

>iris graphics/gt 750m are not good for gaming.

  • No user serviceability/upgradeability, which some people don't care about but is still a big 'fuck you' by Apple
  • They're made by an American company, which means guaranteed hardware and software backdoors
  • They have a huge, absurdly vulgar glowing logo on the back
Because upgrading a Dell/Hp/Lenovo is any easier....The only thing you can upgrade in the other two that you cant upgrade in a mac is RAM, and thats really not a big deal. Because American made automatically means backdoors, whereas it being made in china/india/taiwan means none. All companies of a logo on the back, just because its glowing doesnt make it that much worse...

Yes. on my 15" rMBP (non-gt 750m version) I get about 4-5 hours of Netflix streaming (full brightness), 7-8 hours of web browsing at half brightness.

Why doesn't anyone notice the existance of the Asus UX32LN.

Dual core i5 low voltage chips and up

GT840m

4gb of totally upgradable ram

13,3inch 1080p IPS screen

1tb hdd/ 500gb hybrid drive with 8gb ssd/128gb ssd

Great speakers

Good keyboard

Good touchpad

Aluminium "ultrabook*" body      (* not technically an ultrabook since that 840m but still thin and light as balls)

Ps. costs less with better performance

That, I completely agree with. Without a shadow of a doubt, Apple's trackpad stands alone and is worlds better than any PC notebook touchpad.

Speak for yourself. The trackpad on the Asus UX301LA is perfect once you disable the left swipe to Metro UI. More premium feeling. More tactile feedback, also has all the software to back it up.
