Best way to store small amounts of data for a long time?

This is just plain bullshit. I have CD's/DVD's that are 15 years old and still work fine. Stop with the hyperbolic statements please...

Anecdotal evidence does not equate a solid fact.

Just because you got lucky, and your 15 year old discs work fine, does not mean that you're pushing the limits of those discs. Higher grade discs tend to last longer of course, but generally speaking, using regular CD/DVD media as a long term storage solution is just asking for data loss.

But hey, it's your data. If you want to take the risk, I can't stop you. But please don't advise the OP to do something that is honestly extremely risky.

Dude...

Look up disk rot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_rot

CD/DVD are NOT safe at all.

Personally i would go with multple hdd's in a safe cupboard where they wont get moved/touched/dropped alot.

Or even better have them be in saperate locations.
