I HATE MATH!

So I have homework tonight for my Algebra 2 class, and I understand none of it. Math is easily my hardest subject, and while I get some things, other things won't stick no matter what. I've gone to tons of sites like Kahn Academy, and nothing helps.

Do any of you guys enjoy math?

Here are some examples of problems I've been staring at for an hour:

|5x + 11| = 9

4x - 5 < 15 (it needs to be graphed?!)

3 < 2x + 11 < 17

These might seem laughably simple to some of you, but I'm stumped as all fuck.

But it needs to be the absolute value, and 4 won't work.

absolute value is applied after you do everything between the | and |

3 < 2x + 11 < 17

Is this all one problem or 3 separate ones? cus idk how the first one can be solved ince there is no "=" sign

to graph the second one you make it so that the equation is x< something, so in this case if you add 5 to both sides and divide by 4 in both sides you get x<5, then make a number like and have an open dot on the 5 and arrow pointing to the right

third one is similar to second, but you have to do everything on all of the sides, basically treating < signs how you would = signs in an equation, so subtract 11 on all sides and divide 2 on all sides and you can prob figure out the rest

It can't be 3, if you're talking about the third one. The third one has to be greater than 3, but less than 17. So technically, it can be negative 4 to 2.

If I had some paper I would do them in a heartbeat.

Found some paper/graphic calculator ;P

1. x = -4 and -0.4(-2/5)

2. x < 5

3. x < 3, x > -4

I used to struggle with this last year. It helped me to sketch the graphs on paper and work out the points from there. Getting a graphic calculator also helped but still.

3 < 2x + 11 < 17

1. -4 and -3/5

2. X < 5, just solve it as a normal expression, and just realize that it's a domain restriction when graphing

3 you subtract 11 from both sides and divide both by 2, to get -4 < X < 3

Seperate. And it's solve for x, so it doesn't need an equal sign.

Dude, you're so wrong. It cannot equal and it cannot equal 17. It's between 4 and 16.
