I currently have a 4.5ghz 2500k 1.3v 8gb of 1866 cl9 ram a 1100mhz 660ti and a hyperx ssd for boot. It's all served me well I actually had a sli but sold the second card when I diddnt have time to game, but times change and now I do again. What do you guys think should I upgrade yet? I was thinking x79 but I'm not sure if I'm ready for the splurge as it will take months to save that kind of money. On the other hand of things I want and 8 core but I know a 3930k will blow a 8350s away.

If you actually wan to upgrade to an extreme edition, the new X99 cpus will be coming out in the next few weeks.

If you are looking for a reasonable upgrade, Id say just get a 780 and double your fps. ;)

It really depends on what all you do. If you only game, then upgrading the GPU alone would be the best thing. If you live stream CPU/RAM intensive games, then added RAM would still benefit you. It would take some really impressive software to make it really beneficial for you to upgrade from a 2500k though. :)

As of right now I'm thinking. Change my case from a half x to a fractal define xl take my h100i and take off the 4 sp120s I have on it and outfit them in the case replace them with nff12s and bump my 2500k to 4.6-4.8 I know it's got room but my room was to hot to go further when I overclocked it.Than grab a 780.

Is this a gaming question? Spend the money on video cards.

4.5ghz I5 Sandy is still very relevant for gaming and prob not far behind the new hexa gaming on it's overclock.  The Sandy on the OC also blows away the 8350 still in gaming.

4 cores is all you really need for gaming and it is all how fast you are on those cores. 4.5ghz Sandy would prob outperform a stock I7 4770k in just about every game out there.

Now if it is non gaming? Yeah the hexas kick butt. Click the multicore tab in the document to see some forum users score on that.

Thread with screenshots of the scores. Can run Cinebench R15 and see how your CPU does in comparison.
