549 starting price probably means it's going to be about £500 in the UK then.

I'm kind of on the fence, I like the form factor but the GPU is apparently not upgradable.

No gpu is not upgradable (as its likely custom designed mount and size due to the size of the PC

yeah I reckon £500 but Im holding out hope the i3 model is £399, would make a great addition under my TV

more like £450

$550 to gbp which right now is about £327.14

327.14 / 80 = 4.08 * 100 = 408.00 + 30 to 50 for admin and uk plug

dividing by 80 because uk vat is at 20%

so looking at a price bracket of £450 to £500 for the base model

£450 would be amazing, I reckon this could be a great little seller for people looking to get into PC gaming. Its cheap, a reputable brand that has all the look and attraction that a gamer looks for. This could be cool :)

I just sort of want one because its so cute :3

Finally somebody with sense. It even says it on the damn product page that people are reading yet saying there is no mention. I know people do not like alienware (well I like them) but the thought they would release a gaming console PC with no GPU is absurd. They might product expensive stuff but they are not useless

*No mention of the GPU*

It says 2GB Nvidia Maxwell GPU in a number of places, even in the Lukes interview they discuss the Nvidia GPU!

Charging far too much for not much at all.

also i cant find any info about graphics card. are they building this so we put in our own ?

Way expensive.

hahaha everone was like NICE... wait.. igpu?!?!?

There's an option for an i7, 2TB HDD, and no dedicated GPU for the low, low price of $899.99! What a steal!

"The Next Generation of Graphics: Based on NVIDIA’s newest ‘Maxwell’ architecture, with 2GB of GDDR5 memory at its disposal, the Alienware Alpha’s custom-built GPU ensures you get plenty of performance to crank up your settings on your big screen TV."

Under "A true next gen system"

This might mean 800 releases soon, or it's a mobile 800, or a 750/Ti

i just tried to do a checkout with the cheapest model

it also has a 2GB nVidia GPU in it

it could really be the GTX750Ti 2GB maxwell GPU since the GPU draws only 75 watts

I figured a 750it would make sense as it would be easy to make really small and it consumes very little power and can take power from the board directly so would be easy to manage

But... Since its so long after the release of the 750ti, and it is a "custom chip" I wonder if nvidia have early released a new 800 series card just for Alienware to use... This would explain why its model is so secret. Or it could be a completely custom GPU that only the Alpha has (though  I doubt it for cost reasons)

Or Jesus dust... Im not 100%

You can but it requires you to pray constantly that it does not overheat

nice for the people that don't feel confident to a complete pc together and wanna start simple, atleast if adding a gpu at all is possible.

one thing thou

it uses a external power brick like a laptop and it provides 130 watts max

The 549 one looks slightly reasonable, considering price parity with the Xbox One. That said, an ITX APU box with an open slot for GPU upgrades would be a cheaper way to go.

I was referring specifically to their pre order page, a gaming product that completely omits mentioning the most important part of them all other than a PR blurb about it when it should be plastered all over.

True! but 90% of most prebuild gaming PC customers would have no idea about GPUs anyway, especially in a machine where you cant change it

I agree it should still say though
