X5650 Hexa-Core CPU Is it worth it ?

Hello Everyone!

So I came across a Xeon X5650 Hexa-Core Cpu for around $60 Bucks and a LGA 1366 Mobo for $120.

My question is would it be worth it to upgrade from my X4 750K to the Hexa-Core X5650 ?

My Athlon can't run battlefield 4 due to the cpu usage being in the 95 % - 100% and it barley runs TitanFall So I thought maybe the X5650 might be better due to the 6 cores.

Plus it supports Hyper-threading and as 12 Threads compared to 4 on the Athlon.

I don't know much about the intel side of cpu's so that's why I decided to ask.

All opinions welcome!

Thanks!

It would be an amazing improvement!

The Xeon has better IPC, and more cores.

$60 tho... I bet ya someone is selling a dud.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

The upgade is absolutely worth it,  but the athlon should be fine to run bf4, what gpu are you using? because if you have a gt210 the xeon isn't going to help...

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I wouldn't want to buy it since it seems like it would be a dud. Might as well save up and get a low end Haswell/Haswell Refresh CPU and an H97 or Z97 motherboard.

Ebay!

Meaning someone could have found it laying around some junked dead PC and figured why not throw it on ebay...

Good side - Dude doesnt know what it is worth, and sells cheap

Bad side - Dude knows what its worth, but its dead,... thinks $60 will get an instant buy.

Ebay!

As others have mentioned, yes the Xeon will absolutely, unequivocally, destroy the Athlon. It's 2.66GHz with 6 cores. Should do quite well in basically any game. Especially if you can OC it a bit (Some xeons are easier to OC than others).

If it's off eBay, make sure he accepts returns and that the purchase is fully covered by eBay and PayPal.
