Need help for wiring motors for electric skateboard

are there any that could tell weight that as  slowly being added on?, lke my foot?

 

i got a $400 budget. its difficult, i suppose, but i consider it as fun and a learing experience

A load cell is basically what is used in scales to measure weight. You could probably use something like this http://www.amazon.com/Amico-Electronic-Balance-Four-wire-Weighing/dp/B00880RSTK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407304604&sr=8-1&keywords=load+cell. I have personally never used them in any of my personal projects, i just know that this may be a potential application for one.

You could use 400 on the batteries alone

You could do control with an arduino, but not direcly, obviously. Something like a simple transistor switch would be needed.

Also, I reccommend going with DC motors, since AC would require a converter (I hope it's the right expression?)and those are heavy and expensive.

can this measure different amounts of pressure that change constatly?

Batteries output DC, so it's much simpler use a DC motor.

well DC is what you want to use since you dont want to be adding a lot of devices to it and adding more weight. but just so you know this will be expensive and will probably be cheaper to buy a product from someone than build it yourself. but if you want to do it I would probably use a 1/4hp to 1/2hp depending on your weight but those motors can get pretty expensive and are heavy but you need to take into consideration is how to stop the device because once its wires to a power source you wont be able to shut it off without a kill switch but I can give you a diagram to wire a motor up with single phase. I would try to find a brushless motor since those have high torque in them and can spin faster than a brushed but you will lose the waterproof in the brushless. you will need a main power source and a secondary power source. You will also need to know how to use Ohmn's law to do some math on the Voltage and Amps because you will need a lot of Amps to get a motor started. Also, try and find something with a lot of windings in the because that mean more lines of Flux will be crossed and more speed but will need more energy to do that. I can keep going but like I said it will be cheaper to buy the full product from someone like the Z board since it will work right out of the box and you dont have to learn advanced things for wiring, math and electrical motors with all the gadgets needed for this project.

its for experience and fun, so that's why I opt for homemade. And it's customizable too. Could you give me a diagram and some suggestions for battery, motor, and parts? I'm about 110 lbs. so yea... Can I just not step on the weight sensor and have it stop moving? Oh, and I want it to be weight controlled like the z board. Thanks

Basically if you're using brushed DC motors you need a MOSFET to control the speed using PWM and a DPDT relay to reverse the polarity to, well, reverse, and stuff. Attaching the load cells won't be easy though. Maybe I'd recommend tucking them underneath that sandpaper-like grip tape that covers most skateboards so you can step on them directly.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Dude why would you do that? A relay is so much cheaper than an extra motor just for reverse. Just wire it up to one output of the relay, and backwards to the other output and you can let the relay switch between forwards and backwards. The MOSFET will provide you with throttle control by switching the motor on and off very quickly for varying amounts of time (that's what PWM is). You must add flyback diodes to the motor and control pins of the relay though, because the coils will provide voltage spikes if you don't. I'll see if I have a schematic lying around, if it helps.

Looks you haven't gotten much response. Thought I'd chime in to help out. You need to attach a motor mount to your longboard trucks. You then can mount a motor to your truck mount. We use standard RC Brushless motors and they work pretty well for not being intended for the use.

There are a few components that are required: Motor mount, RC Brushless Motor, Motor Pulley, Drive Wheel Pulley, Belt as well as ESC Electronic Speed Controller, Batteries, R/C Remote Controller.

 

We've also made a Wiiceiver PCB board which you can use like a standard RC receiver and attach a Wireless Wii Nunchuck with it. Hope this helps!

 

Forgot to add as well. Your looking at about $600-700 project. You can barely get it done for $400 if even.

alright, r1 and r2 are resistors, 1 kiloOhm and 100 kiloOhms respectively, ry1 is a relay with a built in flyback diode, q1 is a darlington NPN transistor and q2 is an N-channel MOSFET. D1 is a diode. M1 is a brushed DC motor. As you don't seem to have much experience with electronics I'd say what TorqueBoards suggested is probably easier for you as most components are ready-made and will also give you a higher quality product because the motor is brushless. But it will be more costly.

yeah I know. It's cuz I want to build something myself, without needing prebuilt stuff. Basicily building something my self so I can use it
