Not sure if i am impulse buying, or not.

So latley when ever i get a idea that seems cool to me, or if i did something i think seems cool, i always want to invest in/ buy my own gear.

Now that seems like impulse buying for sure, but before i want to buy anything i have to go and research what is good and what to buy, which makes me think weather to get it or not.

I usually think that it is still a good idea and proceed to the point of almost buying. But i recently realized that my instinct to want the item is clouding my judgement.

So the most recent time this happened was with paintball. I was at a pAintball camp for 2 days and had lots of fun and i want to do it more, i think i could make a real hobby out of it. But i am not sure how often i would be able to go, and if the investment of it is worth it.

I think that recently i have been kinda discouraged by hockey and am looking for a replacement sport. So i think that could be clouding my mind too

I impulse buy a lot of things.

On my first paycheck I bought a $200+ watch and a hundred dollars worth of candy, even though I wanted to save up for a PC

When I got hired at Tim Hortons, I immediately went and borrowed $120 from my brother so I could buy it.

 

They way I see it - If I enjoyed buying something and I think I got enjoyment out of it, it's not money wasted.

Paintball can be alot of fun, but it is a very expensive sport if you succumb to gear lust easily. I would say don't buy a gun more expensive than an auto-cocker (brand), they are without a doubt the best guns on the market, don't go for the "automatics" because they suck, your better off being accurate. Also the auto-cockers have the best range because they fire from a closed bolt instead of an open bolt.

I would only consider impulse buying a problem if you frequently regret buying the things that you bought. If you enjoy the things you buy and you continue to enjoy them later, then what does it matter if your decision making process was impulsive?

 

In the case of paintball equipment, you'll probably want to just stick with renting equipment (if it's reasonably affordable) until you have enough experience to know whether or not you want to buy your own set and continue playing.

Probably is , you can save up & get a better one later on ,

 

about paintball , a quite good research is going on (as they did with occulus) it's kinda like a suit that makes you know you've been hit & hurt , without the actual hassle of real paint ball You can go for this future tech if you save up, by then you can have best of both worlds..Just sayin, But it's your choice , you can have the same thing now

i have prob over 20 hours of play tine so i know if i like it and if i want to continue playing, which i do i just dont if it is feasible money wise

yeah that sounds like it would be quite a few thousand $ more than i will likely every spend on paintball

All I'm saying is auto-cocker's are the absolute best, bar none. Their closed bolt system offers greater accuracy and range than any other paintball gun (I hate it when people say marker just to avoid saying the word gun). Although they don't perform quite as well with CO2 because they use their air to actuate the action. Still, if it's not closed bolt, it's inferior. Auto-cocker makes a decent lower end gun, the trilogy series was like 150$ when I got mine (last I looked, been a long time since I was into paintball though). Check em out before you buy.

 

Don't focus on how fast you can fire the gun and still have paint come out, that's a rookie mistake (for woodsball anyways, I ignore the speedball people because it's less fun and more expensive). Look at accuracy and range.

 

Definitely find a way to do Compressed air over co2, far cheaper. although if I remember correctly some fields will only allow you to use nitro or co2.

yeah im going hpa in my setup and my field does not do co2 refills only hpa

That's something that only you would be able to figure out, because you're the only one who knows both your exact income and expenses.. In terms of blunt common sense, if you can afford to buy the equipment you want and still be able to pay food/rent/etc(the necessary stuff), then I'd say that it would be feasible..

Personally, I threw all of my numbers into an excel document, so I have a specific amount of money directly allocated towards frivolous expenditures. It doesn't matter if an expense is impulsive if there's money allocated towards impulsive buys.

yeah as 13 year old (until the 7th then 14) so i dont really have a exact wage, i get paid by how many hours i officiate buy. I dont have to pay those other things just have to save up for things like a laptop and a car

But i could be able to afford paintball but i may not be able to save as much as i would like

i cant even find a cocker on the gog enmey, its newer so you may not have heard about it
