Looking for opinions on the Asus K200MA

13CA350

Lately I've been using an older Campaq Presario laptop. This computer is in desperate need of an upgrade... It is very slow, and has multiple performance issues. I was looking on the Asus website today and found this: The K200MA, an 11.6in, touch screen, Windows 8.1 laptop. Before I pull the trigger I'm looking for some opinions/ knowledge on this... As far as software I would likely install all the normal stuff. I'm not going to be doing Photoshop or anything like that on here. Here is some general questions I have that I can't seem to find answers to:

-It comes with a 500GB 5400RPM HDD. Is this upgradeable? Can it be switched to an SSD?

-If you own one, or have access to one, please leave your feelings on it below.

-It comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Is this upgradeable? How much can it handle?

-How's the battery life

I use US currency, convert here: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=currency%20converter

Thanks,

"Integrated Intel® UMA"

You will not be doing much gaming on this, as it only has integrated graphics.

"Intel® Bay Trail-M Dual Core Celeron N2815 Processor"

Not terribly powerful, you would be much better off getting a laptop with an i5 or i7.

But if this is all you can afford its a decent choice.

-It should be upgradable, if you can access the hard drive bay then you can install a SSD in it.

-Don't own one

-It should be upgradeable, I would bet that I can support up to around 16GB.

-According to some reviews on amazon the battery life is around 6 hours.

RAM is often up-gradable in laptops (Unless it's apple). HDD's are also often switchable in laptops (again unless it's apple).  I'm not too keen on 5400rpm HDD's though.

Question though what do you intend to install/do/play?

I was looking at the X55MAV, and if this one is anything like that one, the RAM is not upgradeable, and the HDD might be.

The one you chose is good for web browsing and some mild gaming (like Asphalt 8: Airborne).

Thanks for your input. And 16GB and 6Hrs are perfect for my needs. All I plan to install is stuff like Google Earth, Chrome, and perhaps Minecraft.

Thanks, The most demanding game I plan to install is Minecraft.

Even for just minecraft I wouldn't plan to install optifine for higher settings or shaders or anything. That processor isn't very strong. Other than that though it is more than enough.

I understand. My main rig (Down below) is what I normally use. I'd just use it to occasionally play when I'm away from home
