Haswell-E Pre-order Prices Released

Intel is expected to launch their next generation Extreme series processors in September in their new X99 socket. This launch will see Intel release an 8-core CPU, a first for the Extreme line, and no release a quad core on this socket at all, instead only releasing Hex-cores or higher.

I don't care how much they cost, I will have them!

Edit: Apparently somebody beat me to this, please delete.

Higher prices, presumably because they're updating the core counts.

If the cost of adopting the platform wasn't so high compared to Ivy Bridge-E, I might be going Haswell-E.

Only a 3.0GHz base clock... wow..

There are two extra cores on that die. It's expected, but that means you'll have a lot to gain out of that processor in terms of clockspeed.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei

I wouldn't mind grabbing the Core i7-5820K when it's released. Now that the lowest-end chip in the enthusiast line is now a six-core instead of a quad core, it would be a decent purchase.
