Cherry MX Browns or Reds?

happinessism
Go to solution Solved by raultherabbit,

I agree with people saying you should try to go and find a few keyboards with cherry brown or red switches in them and try for yourself.  I initially thought I would like the browns myself, but after a rosewell mechanical with brown cherries in them i tried a k70 with the reds and haven't looked back.  I do a LOT of typing in my job and for me the easier actuation of the reds helps fatigue a lot for me.  and for gaming i didn't really feel there was too much of a difference... YMMV though so seriously try them out first and perhaps be prepared to sell/trade the keyboard one with other switches if you find you don't like it.

Hey, just a quick question. I've been really looking at the new Corsair k95 that's coming out this coming fall, and there are conflicting rumours of it being only in cherry mx reds, or along with browns. Currently, my keyboard has cherry mx browns, (Ducky shine 3), but considering the switch since the absence of macros in my current keyboard is really annoying to deal with. Anyway, pertaining to the question posed by the topic, is there any difference between cherry mx reds and browns, considering that I bottom out every key anyway? I know that they have around the same weight, except that browns have tactile feedback. However, is tactile feedback that important if I bottom out every key anyway? And yes.. that's my question. Thanks for reading.. and answering! (If you do)

Well , browns are like blueish but not as noisy , and the red are like typing on water its very very touch sensible . But as @CoolBeans said its better to go, to a store and try them out :)

I think you will be fine for reds. Tactile feedback does not matter if you bottom out the keys.

The tactile bump on browns would annoy me in FPS games, go for reds that's what I use for gaming and I love them.

Blacks are awesome, they are like tough reds, much better for gaming than reds.

I still prefer brown/blue for typing.

Blue require quite a bit more pressure to actuate than Browns, and this comes from owning both a G710+ (browns) and K70 (blues).

Just another quick question then, do reds actuate when you bottom them out or do they actuate somewhere in the middle?

Mabye the o-rings on the G710 had something to do with it?

The o rings are on the key caps themselves, so they don't interfere with the process.
