Yeah that's normal. I'm pretty sure that it can vary depending on what type of ram you have, but it never says all of it is usable.

EDIT: Might be a good idea to hide that product ID, never know what someone can do with it

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

Yep as the posts above suggested it's due to the iGPU "stealing" ram for it's operation.

if you're using a discrete GPU disable the iGPU and you'll have the 8GB back :) .

Would keep it the way it is if Virtu MVP is used.

Virtu MVP is rubbish, only useful for quicksync, don't bother using it in games.

I checked my RAM, and it just says "12GB" in the Installed RAM section. Nothing about usability.(I have 12GB installed)

yeah go into the bios , by default the IGPU uses 300 odd MB of ram for the integrated grafics , you must have it switched on.

You're using Virtu for games? Why?

I have all 16 so it's probably the iGPU like the others have said. I'm using an FX-8120 so no integrated graphics to steal my ram.

if your running integrated graphics it takes memory out. disable the integrated graphics and you should get all 8 gigs

This is because of reserved space for backups and such. It appears in a lot of storage devices and is standard operating procedure. Windows also allocates a separate part for other things such as page files. It is a small amount so it is nothing to be worried about.

That is nothing to do with why he has less RAM than he thinks he should. that is HDD space completely different kettle of fish...

1.12 into this video

Advanced\system agent configuration\graphics configuration

normally Auto would turn it off if you have a video card installed... igpu multi monitor being enabled may be your problem..

Hope this helps.

Yes, that is normal. Similar to hard drives, you never actually get the "advertised" amount of gbs.

Exactly that, as they usually round to the nearest GB/TB as it looks better.
