I run MSE on my computer, and then occasionally I scan my entire system with MBAM.

Any antivirus will be less than 50% effective. Especially on Windows, it's kind of just going to happen sooner or later. I suggest if you really want to protect yourself to do all of your browsing in a Ubuntu virtual machine and then game on the Windows side. Even then, something will happen eventually.

Bitdefender is consistently at the top of the lit for detection rates.

If you want scientific data, there you go. Defender is a joke unless you really don't care enough to spend money on it. When I was a Windows user, I just reinstalled every time I contracted a virus. Even if they detect it it is unlikely it will be removed entirely.
