Popcorn time was shut down awhile ago but there's Zona the Russian version but remember it's still illegal.

Popcorn Time is still around. The original team that made it got shut down, but they uploaded the source code to Github right beforehand. So now there's multiple groups working on Popcorn Time variations. The most popular of which is Time4Popcorn.

Both Popcorn Time and Zona are technically illegal to use because of how they works.

 

It doesn't stream videos from a server (which isn't illegal), but rather downloads and uploads the video file, and while it's downloading it plays it back for you. This way you can watch it while it's downloading.

Well, Popcorn Time and Zona download torrented videos, so the actual video files aren't hosted on a server.

 

So yes, it's illegal for the user.
