AMD of Intel?

Hi everyone,

I want to buy a new pc for my father.

I'm struggeling between an Intel or AMD CPU

He doesn't need a great graphics card, but it has to support DirectX 11.

All I want is the best price/quality ratio.

My budget is around $400

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you're either looking at a cheap AMD quad-core APU in the A6 series or you're looking at the Intel G3258.

go for an AMD athlon X4 760K 3,8ghz or fx 8350 if you have more money and a Nvidia geforce gtx 650, it costs about 80€ and runs all games in 1080p with 60 fps average

Build a whole computer on $400 on the 7850k?! I'll be damn impressed if you can spec that out.

It's cheaper than a 760K/Pentium G3258 + 750ti. His dad doesn't need a dedicated graphics card so a 7850K's integrated graphics should be more than good enough.

An AMD APU is probably going to give you the best overall performance for your money. CPU may not be as powerful as some of the Intel offerings but the GPU is far superior on the AMD side and as far as i know the APU's support DirectX 11.

The G3258 has enough Integrated graphics to run a 1600p monitor at 60Hz for movies... Why even get the 750TI it doesn't sound like a gaming computer.

Is this a gaming computer?

I'm not the one recommending the 750 Ti fool.

Yea i agree though. Intel HD graphics should suffice although we haven't been told exactly what the PC is being used for. If he needs a bit more graphical oomph then a AMD APU should also work.

Well if you live by a Microcenter or that 100 dollar z97 MSI/g3258 is still going on newegg (was linked in hot deals forum) I would go Intel all day on a budget build at those prices.

The z97 would also let you upgrade to a very nice chip down the road. That deal is just win/win imo.

CPU:24/7-4770k @ 4.5ghz/4.0 cache @ 1.22V override, 1.776 VCCIN. MB: Z87-G41 PC Mate. Cooling: Hyper 212 evo push/pull. Ram: Gskill Ares 1600 CL9 @ 2133 1.56v 10-12-10-31-T1 150 TRFC. Case: HAF 912 stock fans (no LED crap). HD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB. Display: Dell S2340M IPS. GPU: Sapphire Tri-x R9 290. PSU:CX600M OS: Win 7 64 bit/Mac OS X Mavericks, dual boot Hackintosh.

A $100 Z97 for a $400 budget build? It's a great deal but all he ends up with is a overclocked dual core with integrated graphics. I think he's looking to spend as little as possible.

The best bang for your buck, in the $400 dollar price range is AMD.

The deal included board AND chip, and the board was worth more than 100 bucks. Microcenter has a similar deal.
