Minecraft Java SE not responding

99% sure I fixed it by installing the JDKs for both x86 and x64 and I also installed JavaFX(Java8) No more crashes :D

thanks for the help

So I'm playing the Crack Pack mod pack on the ATLauncher

I have 4GB of ram set to minecraft (like it recommends)

I have both java 32 and 64 bit (update 60) installed

I'm playing on Windows 8 if that makes a difference

Whenever I'm playing and I tab alt out the game freezes after about 5-10 seconds and then says "Java SE is not responding" I've looked around for quite a while and nothing has helped..

Linux "nerd".  If I helped you please like my post and maybe add me as a friend :)  ^_^!

It must be an issue with that version of java on windows 8. Have you tried other versions such as update 55?

Also, what if you don't alt tab? Just press ESC and minimize, does it still freeze?

I was on Java 55 before and it did the same thing.  I can sometimes get it to not freeze if I press E and then minimize it, but that's <25% of the time

How much ram does your PC have?

Does it fill close to 100% while playing the game?

Is your CPU at 100% while playing the game?

This is definitely a problem with java on windows 8. Check if there is a beta java 8 download, it might help, but most likely you will be stuck with this problem until a) you downgrade to win7 or b) java fixes their shit in the next update.

Does it stay like that forever until you force kill it?

I don't think you will be able to fix this... :( java really sucks for reasons like this.

Minecraft, watching a stream, and in a skype call 40% CPU usage ~68% RAM

This is actually a problem with MC. I have it to. I think past 1.64? Idk About 50% of the time I unfocused from the window it does this. Sometimes it recovers others it doesn't. This is even with vanilla, so don't worry. I wish they'd fix it. I believe it is a java 8 only problem though. So switching back to 7 for the time being might help the problem.

I don't have java 8. I'm about to install and test it right now

I do have the same problem and I have java 8. and from what I understand, this was fixed by downgrading to seven. This is the first I've heard of this problem on java 7

Been having the exact same issue on both Java 1.7 update 55 and Java 1.8 update 11 (Windows 7 x64). I too use AMD Gaming Zone (Raptr), good to know that's what's causing this. Did you have to close down Raptr to resolve the issue, or just remove Minecraft from its' tracking?

Oddly whilst the Minecraft game window doesn't respond the OpenGL part of it still runs -- as in I can still see it drawing stuff as normal, just in an unresponsive window.
